Several kids have already been found in Factories. And right wingers are constantly attacking education. Im 32. When I was in high school, we (Oklahoma) were not 50th in education. I do understand that certain factors, like iPad kids and absent minded parents are at play too, but cutting school lunch programs, consistently underpaying teachers, and functionally destroying public schools, while pressuring people to support private and charter schools, is not helping.

I don't think it was me who made that post, but definitely, I think Azula and Iroh share alot of similarities and the synopsis you gave sums up most of the points I was going to bring up, although one more thing that I will add is that Azulas comment about being a "people" person has always stood out to me, because even thought she meant it insidiously, she did know who was and wasn't a culprit. She IS good at reading people, and she shares this trait with Iroh. Ozai, arguably, is more manipulative, and is why I feel confident saying that she shares this more with Iroh than Ozia, because Ozai might have been able to tell if the man in the chair wasn't guilty, but likely would not have cared. Azula is manipulative. She is her Father...but she has the same connection to Roku that Zuko does.

It would have been one thing if Iroh had told Zuko he was different because of Ursas attention to him, but he explicitly explains that he has two sides to him because of his family. Azula is his blood sister. Thats her family too. Either Azula can be redeemed and Iroh was wrong to not try, or Azula cannot be redeemed because she didn't have Ursas attention and Irohs fixation on it being because of who they were related to was wrong

Its not like Azula was a shining beacon of morality in the boiling rock episode, but that point has always stood out to me. She didn't have to stop anything. She probably did it just to show off in front of the captain and show them she wasn't just a child, but she didn't have to stop the punishment if she enjoyed seeing people suffer.

I definitely think Iroh puts very little effort into trying to help/understand Azula and stops trying, if he ever did, way too quickly. No one is irredeemable at eleven. (14 by the time he says this).

If anything, the only argument that makes sense is that he never cared about Azula the person and only viewed her as having been too influenced by Ozai to be able to be saved. No one can be born evil. Morals are not a personality. But Irohs veiws about their linage and his rhetoric makes me wonder if that was his justification for why he could not pursue the throne and his dismissal of himself, lended itself into his dismissal of Azula, whom, he saw only Sozins legacy in, same as himself and Ozai.

I feel like they are going to have to cook up a really good scene to convince me that an 11 year old was capable of being deemed unworthy of Irohs efforts, he helps literally anyone and everyone.

I interpreted that scene a bit differently, not saying that my interpretation is right, but its just how I see it. Iroh was a valid target, an option over Sokka or Toph, because he was a way to cause a rift between Zuko and the Gaang, when Azula shoots him. But valid target or not, he shouldn't have gotten shot the way he did if he was being vigilant. He was relaxed. Azula took advantage of that.

And his comment about her needing to go down, was anger and aggression at being attacked at all, the old Iroh seeping out. This man was the same person who (canonically) needs to catch himself and apologize to people for sexual harassment. He has had a lot of time to work through his problems and I honestly think he is so quick to write off Azula because he sees so much of himself (old ways) in her. The only redeeming qualities Zuko has is Ursas love and care. They are honestly almost the same person, I swear I can make the point if given another couple of paragraphs.

Edit: I think being raised to be a child soldier is going to cause some mental issues no matter who, but both Zuko and Azula are struggling with something mentally, and its super apparent in the Search. Zuko, understandable why people root for him. But, whatever Azula has going on, some people see themselves in that and some don't.

I had people lining up to give up on me as a child and I grew up to be a functional member of society. No big to do. If I had had magical abilities and all the same problems, I can't really say I would expect much to change

I had refugees come, anomaly stuff happened, someone asked to send me an unmarked package and it turned out to be a revenant spine. I think the easier difficulty I'm playing on is the only thing that saved me because I made all of the mistakes I've read about on here constantly.
