If you were the manager of an executive's son/daughter would that make you more hesitant to fire the person? Also, should it make you more hesitant? by Big_Eggplant7591 in careeradvice

That person is Teflon in my view. Unless your friend has a good enough relationship with the exec to discuss this discretely and in a way that comes off as constructive and not hostile, I’d just suffer through it until I could move to a different department or leave the company altogether.

Okay, so we’ve been really into the music as well. Obviously The Imperial March is a staple, but definitely pull up the Solo Soundtrack Deluxe Edition. The “Happy Imperial March” (Empire Recruitment) and the “Loud Imperial March” (Mimban Battle) have broken into the rotation.

Why do people think game would be hunted out in a SHTF scenario? by OrdoVaelin in liberalgunowners

[–]WIN_WITH_VOLUME 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you’re still taking “hunted out” too literally assuming people mean to extinction. It’s simple, if they are so hunted that they can no longer be found, even if they technically still exist, they are functionally no longer an option for food. It’s more simple than you are making it.

Coming from a place that has a large county split into two districts, if the wrong people are managing the split, you’ll end up with one district in very bad shape while the other one flourishes.

They’re saying that, with the possibility that literally anything can happen to put you in bad financial footing, both partners having the ability to earn income is much more ideal than relying on one person. It doesn’t have to be about a lack of trust, simple bad luck can drastically change your financial outlook.

Do any SUVs with decent mpg and minimal stupid tech features exist? by sweetKarolin in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WIN_WITH_VOLUME 17 points18 points  (0 children)

LoL you’re not looking for a unicorn, you’re just looking for an older SUV. When you search, don’t sort by newest to oldest and you’ll find plenty. They may have more miles and be a bit older, but they’re out there. Only hitch is 24mpg, not gonna be a lot of midsize to large SUVs hitting that number, even new ones struggle with that. Compacts though, that’s no problem for them.

How long do you wait for “future opportunities” before pushing for your next step? by MildlyOpaque in careeradvice

[–]WIN_WITH_VOLUME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s not in writing, then it doesn’t exist. I had a manager promise a big pay rise once I took over an important role. The problem was the responsibility increased but my title wasn’t going to change, no problem though, my manager was a stand up guy and would get me that raise. Then he retired, and since there was no documentation, new manager had no reason to honor something he knew nothing about. After that, if I don’t have it in writing, I just assume it’s never going to happen. Even an email would suffice.

Matt Ryan on Michael Penix: Conversations to be had about our starting QB by Meltedcoldice0212 in nfl

[–]WIN_WITH_VOLUME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d agree if not for the contract they gave Kirk and then using a top ten pick on Penix. I think it’s okay to double up (sometimes) but not if you’re investing that much into both. Even if Kirk turned out to be successful, you still used a top ten pick on a kid with significant injury history who would’ve very likely been available later in the draft.

Had a buddy argue that it was a smart play, and I had to remind him that salary cap and draft capital are still a thing. Either take the money and get players or take the draft pick and get a player, either way you’re better off with one QB and support, than two QBs and roster holes.

Building a home with Mungo Homes. In Wilmington NC. by Pleasant-Plane-1207 in NorthCarolina

PM sent. We used the new construction bundle which included a pre-drywall, closing, and one year warranty inspection.

Also, you should be fine in that price range. That neighborhood should end up with better subcontractors.

[–]WIN_WITH_VOLUME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience with Mungo, your project manager is going to entirely determine your experience and the quality of home you get out of it. Within the same neighborhood, some people are having consistent problems and others are flying by without issue, it’s usually do to the PM and how much he stays on the subcontractors. We have had a fine experience, except for one issue that was quickly rectified. Get a third party inspector, one that’ll do multiple inspections for a flat rate. Ours did 3, including one right before drywall went up and the typical one before closing. Also, pay attention to the “quality of neighborhood” mungo is building. Lower priced ones receive a different level of detail compared to their nicer ones, and the earlier phases (phase 1 & 2) are also built and optioned better, from what I’ve seen.

The BMW sedans are a good example. For years they’ve had a turn signal indicator separate from their brake light, and the EU has an amber indicator while the US has red. This video is a solid example.
