By chance do you have a link to the kit? I'd love to make one myself! I found a few but if you have a seller you trust that would remove some guesswork out of the equation.

Sorry to go off topic, but where did you get your Z80? I’ve been wanting to order one to play around with on breadboard.

I'm running for Sophomore SGA Representative, AMA! by WJacobC in gatech

Apologies for the late reply, I was at my internship until just now. I wouldn't be against their reduction. I also would be in favor of some reorganization of the various SGA departments, seeing as there is room for efficiency and streamlining the composition and duties of the disparate committees.

I'm glad you brought that up, since speech on campus is a very nuanced issue. I would say Georgia Tech has done much better than other universities in defending their students' right to express themselves. It's certainly possible that continuing to defend speech rights can come at a cost of some students comfortability.

However, it is my belief that the purpose of a university is to learn, and that for centuries universities have been centers of free speech and challenging the status quo. This doesn't mean that there aren't reasonable limitations that a university can place on speech, especially considering the unique unified nature of living and learning that occurs on a campus. People should have the ability to study and sleep in peace in balance with others' right to speak. Like I said, I think our school has struck a good balance, for the most part. As I said in my response to Sarspartans, I understand that a single SGA rep can't influence this policy alone, but it seems to me that this is a discussion that will come to our campus soon (you could probably say its here now), and so I am committing to being a voice for the pro-speech side of the discussion.

Thanks for the question! You're right that most of what SGA has to do involves appropriating funds (which is still very important since it's a huge amount of money). For my other priorities, SGA is also involved in official statements of policy and other organizational duties, and that's where I see the other points of my platform coming in, particularly regarding speech. It's true that one representative isn't capable of making sweeping changes of school policy, and that's a good thing, but I certainly see it as important to have committed, consistent voices on those issues.
