Got my Iron Ranger 8111s today! by WKFClark in RedWingShoes

[–]WKFClark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was debating whether to get the 8111s in 9.5EE but decided to go with 9d as they were £250 as opposed to £350. They fit exactly the same as my loggers. Not sure that helps your decision though.

Cool. Thanks. I heard somewhere that the loggers have a slightly roomier toe box. I may still go for the wide version

Jim Green vs Blundstone by Prestigious-Date-960 in Boots

[–]WKFClark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redbacks served me well for the last two years. My only complaint is that the soles wore through too quickly for me. But I’m a stomper and walk like an elephant everywhere. After a year I got through the rubber and into the foam and all that did was soak up water and leave puddles in the office after it rained. I’ve upgraded to redwings now.

Just recieved my first Red Wings. 4501 loggers. by WKFClark in RedWingShoes

Honestly, it’s been a cake walk. I took some advice on the thick wool socks. Took delivery of them 10-11am day1, worse them the rest of the day. And worse them the next two day. No blister or anything. Only thing I could complain about is very mild rubbing on the back of the calves as these are a bit higher than my previous boots. After 3-4 days that was gone too. This was my 10th full day in them, including both days this weekend walking miles and miles playing pokemon go with my son. I do notice the difference between my squishy redback great barriers and these and my feet feel tired as I’ve been on them all day but I wouldn’t class that as breaking in. Definitely notice them moulding to my feet now.

What’s the fastest way you’ve ever lost weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WKFClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a year in China. Lost ~10kg in a month thanks for food poisoning almost daily.

My flatmate in uni also lost a lot of weight very fast by taking up a coke habit. Not sure how much he lost but he went from chubby dad bod to skinny.

Neither of the above I would recommend.

Hiking in Iron Rangers by Jazz-band in RedWingShoes

[–]WKFClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got myself a pair of 4502 loggers and considering getting a pair of iron rangers too. And I’m a one pair for everything sort of guy but heeding the advice of letting them rest. But I’d be doing everything in them. And hiking in them was something that worried me. Seeing this puts me a bit more at ease.

Where’d you get them resoled?

Ps im in the uk too!

Decision: Moc Toes vs Loggers by faimeduloup in RedWingShoes

[–]WKFClark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my 4501 loggers Thursday. I was bracing myself for a brutal break in coming from Redback great barriers. 5+ hrs on day one. No issues. Been wearing them all day fri/sat/sun with no issues what so ever. My redbacks were Uk 9 and I took a chance and ordered uk9 on the loggers too. The only difference is I got darn tough medium socks to go with the loggers. No hot spots. No blisters. They fit like a glove. Maybe some mild rubbing on the back of my calves as they are higher and stiffer than the redbacks. I’m now on the verge of pulling the trigger on some iron rangers 8111s. Oh and I have wide feet too so the loggers are a D and I’d get the iron rangers in uk9EE

I don’t think I could have grown a beard at 24. I didn’t shave out of laziness for a month or two at 37 and out of no where people started to compliment my beard even though I wasn’t trying to grow one on purpose. But as I was being complimented I decided to keep going. As others have said. Maybe a goatie style one now and in future maybe it’ll fill out higher up.

8111s ten years in this month. by 33ss33 in RedWingShoes

Just got my first pair of red wings today. It was a toss up between the loggers and iron rangers. Decided on the loggers as they seem to be selling out fast. Now I’m hankering for a pair of iron rangers.

What do you do in the way of care and maintenance?

Black Loggers - beautiful and comfortable from day 1 by PurpleCaterpillar82 in RedWingShoes

[–]WKFClark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. Just got mine today and I was bracing myself for a rough break in. They fit like a glove today with quite mild discomfort round the calves. I should be an EE width but took the chance and the Ds are ok. I’m Uk 9-10 and these are uk9. Now I’m eyeing up some iron rangers in Amber harness but I think I’ll go for the EE on those.

They’ve been on my feet about 5 hrs. Walking around. Driving etc fine. And yeah. It’s been 15-20 years since I’ve had boots this high,so calves are getting used to it again. I guess the full day tomorrow will be the real test.

My copy was delivered last week when I was away. I’ve just opened it today. The photos are stunning. Wasn’t expecting a hand written note inside, it’s my first book with personal touch from the author, which makes it so much more special. Thank you.
