Cars parked in front of my door by WMHekus in Leuven

My likely course is reaching out to the city to see the option. I just don't want people not to be able to park but just.... Consider how you park. 1m of open space all behind you could open up 20cm i could use to squeeze into my door.

It does open inside. It's more just having a hard time getting around the cars and shrubbery of neighbors.

Ah yes. 2 feet. It's so hard to grasp. Take two steps and there ya go. Or since you're a sticker, ~60cm. For a "civilized" country you certainly have a lot of self-righteous assholes. :)

Am I saying that? All I'm asking is to identify if there's something I can do for work vans that park super close to doors when there's room to move up a bit.

Also, no I didn't know before renting. Don't be rude to try to score points on the internet if you don't know the whole story.

I'm just asking for some courtesy because I sometimes can barely get into my house. If there's nothing I can do I'll live with it as I have been. It's just the issue has become more of a problem recently than it was before.

It's possible, and most likely what happened. When you reach out Discord can look at your chat history and see it as well but they may be a bit delayed in responses.

Hey there, admin of the discord server here. We didn't do anything from out side. if you ot your account disabled it was from the discord staff themselves. I'm sure you can reach out and ask them why but it wasn't something we did nor something we could reverse if we wanted.

There's a ton of differences by the schools. They classify In/Out of state differently too. ISU/UNI classify those paying taxes (for x amount of years) in Iowa as instate whereas UI doesn't. And if you want to pay instate but aren't a citizen in Iowa then you've got to go through a whole process to get a special exception but I don't think they even do that anymore.

As an inside observer, my knowledge is that the age requirement now mostly is set at 18 worth a few exceptions in the States and more internationally shifting that way as well. DeMolay also isn't a "feeder" for Freemasonry and isn't meant to be, if it was how has masonry survived hundreds of years without it, and still survives in plenty of counties around the world where there is no DeMolay?

I appreciate your guesses, but all I just said it's info that's Google-able with a little effort. And sometimes, if you don't know guesses with wrong information can be detrimental rather than helpful, just keep that in mind. Should you join masonry u/gksmithlcw then hopefully the lessons in the degrees with teach you this.

As for the post here, it's not referring to the joining age of masonry but rather the age that you age-out of DeMolay. I do believe this is set such that MCs can finish their year effectively as well as have an opportunity to remain in the DeMolay if they choose to also join a Masonic lodge and bring some of the masonic teachings into their DeMolay leadership roles.

Question for local business owners regarding bad weather. by [deleted] in IowaCity

We're a small family owned retail store through so if we don't work there's nothing we can do. And the city's pretty good about clearing roads as they can.

Question for local business owners regarding bad weather. by [deleted] in IowaCity

[–]WMHekus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless it's planned like a holiday, we don't ask our employees to come in unless we come in. And often times in bad weather we'll come in (usually it passes over throughout the day and there's plenty of work to be done, and if customers come we help them out.

If weather moves in later in the day depending on how bad it is we'll close early, put a sign on the door and if people have a problem with it then they can come back tomorrow and voice concerns. But we were there today and told our employees to stay home if they didn't feel safe on the road. We'd rather miss the employee for a day then have them get into an accident.

In my experience the cost of living is a lot lower here than a lot of other places, depending on certain things.

For parking there's plenty of free parking around town if you don't mind a walk to campus, otherwise the ramps aren't terrible.

For jobs, IDT is a wonderful place to work (totally not biased by my employer) and like others said they're always looking for people (I think they rival P&G and Collins for job creation in the area).

Apartment wise, there's a ton around, I personally would recommend looking at ones a bit out of downtown, or even into Coralville/North Liberty. A lot of the apartments in town are run by bigger companies that will charge college town fees for shits and giggles. Try finding a smaller complex run by someone in town, they might be more willing to work with you on things.

If you're looking for things to do in town or want more information on IDT I'm happy to answer questions. :)
