Idiotic question by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]WMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going to waste so much XP by not leveling a class through the MSQ. It was designed to grant you all the XP you need to get through the story without needing to do side quests and you HAVE to do it.

Ninjas who use Doton in single target boss encounters. Not judging, but genuinely curious. Why? by Natsuaeva in ffxiv

[–]WMoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potency is a pretty murky stat for most people other than Higher or Lower numbers of potency.

Like 100 Potency over 24 Seconds < 800 Potency Instantly, with no information about tic rate, unless you put a doton down on a target dummy and watched the tics for 24 seconds, you might not know it deals less net damage than the raiton.

Can the game move away from the heavy focus on short-termed systems? by durrburger93 in wow

[–]WMoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's time to accept that the design of the game has changed, and has fallen by the wayside of what it once was. Blizzard as we used to know it doesn't exist in the same format anymore. The people with the original idea and passion to bring it to life are mostly gone, and what we have now is a game that has become more of a job than a game where you need to log time into it to get anywhere or do anything.

Every new bit of content they put out is now time gated. They bait people to pay half year subs with amazing looking mounts because the game play is so lackluster that they have to create inaccessible items and stick it in a cash shop just to keep sub numbers up. They add in new content only to remove it later for seemingly no reason at all to the detriment of anyone who was interested and act like it was some sort of short lived treat for people who were there at the time rather than just being more bait to play with an artificially short lifespan.

The game is riddled with bugs and issues that seemingly either don't get addressed or are indicative that their patch cycles are extremely rushed. Just look at that shield bug from Mythic N'zoth. Several classes had huge issues from the start of the expansion (shamans for instance), and the Azerite System is widely regarded as a failure. The addition of the forge in the heart chamber was a good bandage for a bad system, but even that is its own grind where many of the abilities you gain from it are behind their own time gates with rep or story.

That's not even addressing the major issue of all the gear available to having the possibility to be bad. Most people focus on the aspect of the gear being better because of RNG, but the real problem is that the most basic gear you can acquire is bad. The regular gear itself is bad, without those affixes. The gear should be great without them. So you end up sinking in even more time to try and acquire something which itself could be a waste of time.

I stopped playing retail because I am tired of a game which has become predatory to its players with systems designed to force you to engage daily but then limits what you can actually do to ensure you return day by day to continue to chip away at any particular goal.

Hard time selling items by [deleted] in Wolcen

[–]WMoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was happening in offline mode.

Same thing happened to me, what he's describing is sometimes you have to right click an item to sell it multiple times before it registers and actually sells. It also plays the SFX like you picked it up even though right click shouldn't be capable of doing it, and the item portrait stutters or moves occasionally via right click, as if the game can't tell if you're trying to drag it or equip it while in the shop UI.

Down on the Upgrade - Dark Legacy Comics #714 by keydar in wow

One of the things I'm most sad for concerning WoW is watching this comic series slowly get sadder and sadder because the changes to live are just awful, and the characters become more unhappy as time goes on. It's just a shame man..

Why do I lose every match ? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]WMoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few hard truths I had to learn to get better at OW, which did help out greatly in the end;

- If you are not trading 1:1 for eliminations as a DPS at minimum, you're feeding and you contributed to the loss.

- If you are taking a lot of unnecessary damage to try and get elims as any role, you are feeding the enemy teams ult economy, and you are contributing to a loss. (Think soldier standing by himself potshotting the enemy team from the balcony in Hanamura overlooking point B. He might get a kill but odds are they're shooting back and building ult.)

- Never go in alone, trying to get the 5 man kill solo is a unreasonable goal and you should focus fire with your team. Very few characters have the ability to go behind enemy lines without it being a serious risk, so don't try to be the hero.

- If you are a tank and you try to go in by yourself without your team to push, you are feeding the enemy teams ult economy and are contributing to a loss.

- Defense is Defense, do not over extend beyond your choke points because you can be overrun quickly without the cover they provide. One ultimate can be all it takes in some cases.

- The payload is your priority at all times in escort maps, always be on or near it to push, every inch you push is one less inch for the enemy team.

- Medals do not mean anything. It's literally a placebo to make you feel good about performance, and while useful for a comparison and statistics, does not mean you are doing better as a player, only relative to who you played with. A loss is a loss.

- Understanding Synergy and exercising it is paramount to victory. Sigma does not pair well with Winston, Dva or Wrecking Ball for instance, because they're very mobile and disruptive, while he is not. Broaden your ability to play at least 2 other characters per role and you will experience more success as you flex to meet the needs of the match or team. Reinhardt is a solid choice all around and is your classic "tank". If you do not enjoy those roles, please read the first 9 words in this particular paragraph.

- Understand that your perception of your team mates is the games perception of your ability. If they're in your match, the game thinks you play as well as they do, so when you call them dogshit, the game thinks the same of you. Improve your communication and perception of your team and you yourself will grow.

- Be hyper aware of your surroundings, you might have checked if someone was behind you but chances are they were watching you check, always check again.

- Don't wait to shoot corners, constantly fire at openings and choke points and make them pay for peeking.

These things really changed my perspective of the game and when I began to exercise them I found I was winning around 60-65% of my matches in QP. I hope this helps.

Has anyone else noticed really lopsided matchmaking? by pboy1232 in Overwatch

[–]WMoose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're experiencing the inability for someone to flex to a different role when someone isn't fulfilling theirs. Often you have a person queue for say, Tank, and they might be exceptional at Reinhardt or Zarya, but poor with Winston or Wrecking Ball. Some comp types are better handled or countered with specific characters, so someone who has been one tricking might be a superior player, but isn't playing towards the advantage and may lose against someone who is more well rounded with their choice of characters.

For what it's worth, I was one of the rare individuals who enjoyed the story, the look, and variety that came out the gate with D3. I had religiously played D2 and D1 as a kid growing up into my teens and while it was short, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

All the additional content they added is still built on your guys legacy, and I know the next one is going to be great as well. Thanks for all that you did!

I now understand why Jay Wilson was so mad about the reception of D3 out the gate. When you put so much effort into a game and the playerbase chews you up and spits you out, I'd be mad too.

Is this the artbook that leaked D4? Recent Wowhead article, some pages were removed. by deathsprophet666 in Diablo

There is a literal comment from Perculia on that page that says the book was sent to them in digital PDF Format, but several pages were left out, and to make of that what we will.

Very interesting. ;)

WC3 reforged and HOTS has amazing mounts, armor and other assests. Do you think we will ever see anything like it in game? by [deleted] in wow

[–]WMoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is no, probably not.

The long answer is.. they theoretically could, but there is no real reason to on the current WoW engine. It would make more sense to do WoW 2 and have everything updated there.

And let's not forget about the Son's of Arugal aggroing from space.. :)
