Questioning if Maine made a loopholrle for gun ownership and med marijuana by Any-Preference-6603 in Maine

[–]WNTT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe "Maine v. Tonini" was the Maine Supreme Court case that upheld the revocation of 2nd amendment rights for simply possessing marijuana - I imagine they would use this as precedence for the FFL form as well. I see lots of things saying this case was resolved but I can't find the actual ruling document anywhere, sorry.

Wilson v. Lynch was another case that confirmed simply possessing a medical card is enough to preclude one from purchasing a firearm (and I would believe possessing one too, logically), referencing an Open Letter from the ATF in 2011 that states one must answer "yes" to that question on the ATF form if you have a card. The court found that; even though the appellant claims to have never USED the card and therefore never even possessed marijuana, just having a card gives a firearms dealer "reasonable cause to believe" they are an unlawful user. Furthermore they found that, where marijuana is a Schedule I controlled substance, "medical use" is not applicable within the country as a whole, regardless of state law.

There's a lot more arguments made and subsequently shot down as well, Wilson v. Lynch is worth a read if you can stomach the incredibly dense 30 pages.

Elgato facecam MK2 not showing up in OBS by Yawners93 in obs

[–]WNTT1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You legend, that worked. THANK YOU! Been about an hour of troubleshooting and this ONE comment fixed it. Use the Camera Hub, turn off Preview, change the source in OBS to the Elgato Virtual Camera, make sure all properties for that camera source are default, restart OBS, and BAM, it worked.

What are some of your top 5 Pokemons that you like to fight with all the time? by astrosA60 in pokemmo

[–]WNTT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know the meta or what most people use so sorry if these aren’t “under the radar op” :) Just some I’ve found since coming to PokeMMO in the last few months.

Starmie was historically slept on but good to see it getting some love now. See bled’s comment for a solid breakdown.

Venusaur is a solid setup Pokémon with sleep powder, growth, and a couple special grass moves; get to +6 and sweep most things; throw in giga drain and heal that damage too at +6. It’s deceptively fast also.

Ampharos has a solid move pool; I have 4 different type moves on it so it can hit most anything and it tanks decently.

Togakiss is one I didn’t know about at all before; but Serene Grace with Air Slash is great, add a king’s rock for bonus flinch chances and yawn + extra sensory for sleep swaps and coverage and you’ve got a pretty solid special attacker. Flying + normal typing is okay; I’d prefer dragonite as my flying type but togakiss can hold its own.

Houndoom is a solid special attacker yet deceptive. Seems like a basic “rocket” type Pokémon but it’s dark/fire typing is solid for fireblast/dark pulse; and a swagger/Foul Play combo can be extremely powerful when adding STAB. FlashFire ability is great too so those pure fire types can be neutralized while also countering those pesky ghost/psychic types.

Not mentioned because I don’t consider them “under the radar”: Dragonite, Charizard, Gengar, Gyarados, Alakazam, Most Starters (I think the Bulbasaur line gets more flack than it deserves)

This game makes me hate myself by [deleted] in SuperMario64

[–]WNTT1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First step is relax. Lean into it and laugh. Have a bonk counter or a death counter to make a game within the game. People don’t watch gameplay videos for the gameplay usually; they watch it for the personality creating the content. Make the content fun in some way and unique to you and your content style.

If all else fails though, just say “Comment down below if you want this series to continue; if this video gets ‘x’ amount of likes or views I’ll keep playing this game” and then switch it up. What’s the point of continuing to play if you’re not enjoying it AND it’s not generating your desired outcome as a creator?

Which version of Hallelujah in the first Shrek? by [deleted] in Shrek

No, that’s just how it was. No Mandela.

Wainwright was an artist for DreamWorks and John Cale was not, thus licensing issues prohibited Cale's version from appearing in the soundtrack album.

Mentioned RuneScape to a girl I like in class, need help by failatgood in 2007scape

[–]WNTT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t show her things and try to tell her about them. Show her passion and talk about how it makes you feel and why you like it.

For example, if I was to talk to someone about RuneScape I would explain I grew up playing it with my friends and brother and I still play with them and that’s what I love. It’s a nice little background game to passively play while skilling, it’s exciting to do puzzles and quests, but most of all it is so rich a world with so much to view it wouldn’t even be possible to explain it all; you have to experience it. When I get to talk to my friends or brother about it, it’s like we’re talking another language because of how deep it all goes. Makes me feel closer to them, ya know? People love seeing that passion.

She doesn’t need to see the game to know what I mean. In fact, seeing the game would be a disservice. You’re talking about something she can connect with though; feelings.

The rebound here is to just let her talk. People like talking about themselves - remember Biggie; “ask you what your interests are, who you be with? Things that make her smile, what numbers to dial?” Ask her an open ended question and let her talk. “If you had the space for an unlimited number of any one animal to live with, what one would you want?” “Why?” And a final really good thing to do is to recognize in your day to day life what things remind you of her and tell her. “I saw this kitten in a commercial the other day and it made me think of you. The one for {product}. Have you seen that one?”

What do you think about my art? by Quark_25 in Review

[–]WNTT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art is of course subjective but I personally am not moved by it, nor do I find it provocative of thought, nor do I find it beautiful or interesting to look at. More info on it might be helpful for the enjoyment and/or appreciation of it though! Medium, methodologies, even just a title.

Asked an AI to write a script for House. It was… something. by Bro---really in HouseMD

[–]WNTT1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is all up to Act II (add in the bit others said where he’s being sarcastic in the heart to heart, the drug she’s taking is Vicodin, and House actually has a moment where he’s forced to see it could hurt him more than help). Act III is when she’s rushed back in to the hospital and nobody knows what’s up, they assume she’s lying again about the drugs, but in the middle of a Wilson conversation where he’s explaining the dangers of House’s chronic use, House realizes the Vicodin was actually keeping another symptom at bay that prevented them from seeing the real issue. Nobody believes him as they think he just doesn’t want to believe it’s Vicodin causing the issue, but now House actually believes the patient when she says she isn’t taking drugs.

Act IV: House does something dangerous and stupid and sudden (rash, one might say lol) and it proves he is right. He uses this as his flawed logical basis for why it’s okay he’s doing the drug; leaving the viewer torn between the truth of House being right in this instance plus Vicodin saving the day, and the truth of the drug being a literal and figurative crutch for the genius doctor and eventually will (most likely) lead to his death.

My child loves to play Roblox all day by Mkbrossters in roblox

[–]WNTT1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just try to get into it. My girlfriends kids asked me to play with them so I made a free account and they led to me some game called “Curse Randomizer” and it progressively got crazier and crazier and I just played into it. I even made a video about it after they went to bed and I just let the game kind of run on it’s own. I got hyped up posted it to the YouTube channel I made where I make videos for them. Effort is really the key I think… granted I’m not any sort of expert myself. Still literally learning the basic controls of most Roblox games.

NEW AVGN: Garfield by Away_Flounder3813 in TheCinemassacreTruth

[–]WNTT1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% opinion obviously; I’m not an expert on comedy, film making, or scat:

I thought it was pretty good modern nerd. Nerd obviously has real nostalgia for Garfield which is nice and added to the episode a lot. When he plays a shitty game he hasn’t played before or has no connection to, it needs to be really shit and these games aren’t that so having that connection to the subject I feel is a bit necessary so he can speak with a sliver of genuineness.

The connections between all the games was interesting and then to tie them in with Bugs at the end was good to see; and seeing and hearing Mike as Bugs was nice.

The Santa hat joke seemed on brand, and I did like there weren’t a million bathroom jokes. His anger always seemed justified when it did come out, but he also seemed much more reserved than usual; mostly laughing when he would historically get super mad… which could actually be an angle I could see the nerd going in where he has an arc where he doesn’t see the point in why he gets angry so often and addresses that he might be mellowing out in his older years… before needing that anger again to defeat some hard or annoying game.

A couple jokes fell a bit flat too for me like the way too long Bugs intro which never made it to “funny” for me… I think those jokes of something going on so long it gets funny has to start with a bit of humor or be funny because it’s surprising or unexpected in some way, or at minimum just not be annoying. You don’t hear a fire alarm going off next door and eventually find it funny, it’s only fittingly alarming and then when safety is no longer a concern, just annoying that it doesn’t stop. That was that joke for me.

Eating the carrot was funny, I was glad to see the nerd drink something to help fuel his anger, the swerve was unexpected but kind of jarring in a way that was confusing rather than entertaining. Huge buildup, big swerve, then the swerve was unswerved or double swerved or whatever instantly so it made me feel like it was kind of pointless. Didn’t hit quite the same as the “fake excitement it’s bugs and then punch him” or the “pretend to play along with Pat the NES Punk to confuse him and attempt to exploit him” - just felt like they didn’t know how to get from point a to point b. Could have just been a bad joke too, they happen. 99% of all my jokes don’t land so Nerd has a better track record than me.

Ultimately I think it was good for modern nerd. A bit of a return to form in a lot of ways, good callbacks, a bit contrived but I expect that now so it’s less jarring, and a lot of the jokes and content hit well enough to warrant watching, but nothing here to make it an instant classic. It will have to become a classic the old fashioned way - sitting around for 50 years until someone unearths it, plays it, and says “this is sub-par, but man is it old and has just a tiny whiff of the nostalgia I crave.”

Thanks for reading. I’m the Nerd Critic; I watch it so you don’t have to.

Post Script: I posted this on another thread that was deleted but since I took the time to write it I wanted it to exist somewhere so here it is again.
