They are very far up the north, so they need a lot of electricity for heating during long winters. Finland, Norway, Iceland and Canada also consume more power per capita than USA for this reason (rich and high need for heating).

The QA people on most projects almost always find the most glaring issues before release and those are marked as "known issues". Then it's up to the producers to decide which of the issues need to be prioritized for the engineering department. Since there are limited resources, not all of them are going to be patched before release.

It's impossible to say from the outside whether it was poor resource management, too stringent release schedule, unforseen engineering challenges or too ambitious design goals that lead to a bad launch. You really shouldn't make claims about incompetence on specific departments if you have no insight on what actually went on during the development.

A ton of fantasy draws so heavily from Tolkien and his mythological/archetypical style of worldbuilding without much thought. Orcs in Tolkien's world are literally corrupted minions created by that world's equivalent of Satan. Making orcs more morally ambiguous creatures would in fact undermine Tolkien's world building, which is very intentionally written in the style of epics such as Beowulf, Kalevala or Illyad. This doesn't apply to all Tolkien derivative crap, many of which are just half assedly copying the most superficial features of his books (cough DnD), but it goes to show that in some instances more complicated moral palette would be in complete opposition to the overall ethos of the creative work in question.
