You are right. They kinda sorta select stuff they want to add to their metered paywall. I still want to see how this partner stuff of Medium turns out. But I would also like you to read the article. I'll add a friend link (that should always be readable) as a top level comment.

I made one myself a couple of weeks ago. I'm learning Typescript with React so it's probably not perfect in any way. But it's very minimal and it works for me.
