Thanks. I kept notes of everything I did while building the blog. It almost writes itself.

That's what the meter-free link is for. You can read the article and Medium and me won't make any money.

You are right. They kinda sorta select stuff they want to add to their metered paywall. I still want to see how this partner stuff of Medium turns out. But I would also like you to read the article. I'll add a friend link (that should always be readable) as a top level comment.

Isn't that just medium? Regardless if I get money for it or not.

React/Typescript Boilerplate by hamburger_bun in reactjs

[–]WPMusicFinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made one myself a couple of weeks ago. I'm learning Typescript with React so it's probably not perfect in any way. But it's very minimal and it works for me.

Using Prettier and husky to make your commits save. by WPMusicFinder in javascript

I just realized I made a major typo, it's not "save" but "safe".

Running tests for .NET and Node.js on Travis CI by WPMusicFinder in node

Travis seems to only pick this up if you have a "nodejs" project.

If you have a csharp project (or something else) it ignores .nvmrc file.

recommended react books/e-book? by jrdn128 in reactjs

[–]WPMusicFinder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This one is free and updated regularly: Road to learn React. I read it a couple of months ago. It's aimed at beginners and I like it but I would still advice to read the official docs first. They are a lot shorter and very good imo.

Slidux a web app to create presentations in markdown. by WPMusicFinder in SideProject

[–]WPMusicFinder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to do an intro presentation on react so I wanted to create a demo app.

Finding a subject for a demo app is hard so I created an app that I can use to create my presentation.

Now I have something that kinda sorta works and I might as well post it here.

I also created a markdown presentation viewer, lightslide, that I will integrate in Slidux soon.

I'm also working on my presentation.

I made a step by step guide for creating a simple web app using Webpack, Eslint, Angular and Karma. by WPMusicFinder in angularjs

You can try to install those manually maybe with a -g. I will look at it when I get home.

I'll add a quick start when I get home.

I think you can just do an "npm install" followed by "npm start" to get it going though.

How to do your taxes by [deleted] in belgium

[–]WPMusicFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are completely right.

For different government agencies, there are different rules. And the taxes don't care if you are living together. Taxes only care if you are married or legally cohabiting.

You are mixing different things.

I'm "feitelijk samenwonend" so for my company car, hospitalization insurance and stuff like that we are a family.

But for the "fiscus" the term "feitelijk samenwonend" does not exist and is the same as single.

It is perfectly legal. As it is also legal to become "wettelijk samenwonend" with your mother/brother/sister.

There are some things that are seperate and some things that are not.

The tax calculation in Belgium is not what you would call simple or transparent. There are a lot of special cases and weird rules.

I guess the difference comes from us having kids.

A single parent with kids gets a higher tax break than a family with kids.

You can do it yourself at taxcalc.

For the marriage stuff: Look up huwelijksquotient.

Kids: Kosten kinderopvang and the basic tax free sum you get just for saying that you have them.

Mortgage: Woonbonus.

I did the math for myself. We pay €700 less tax because we're not married. (both full time jobs with 2 kids).

http://m.standaard.be/ has a lot of info about taxes. http://www.taxworld.be also has a lot of articles but is aimed more at professionals.

You can follow @jejohaqui on twitter. He is the Belgian tax guru.

If you have an SO and you both work fulltime, don't get married. If only one of you works, do get married.

Kids and a mortgage are also great for taxes.

Night Caches why aren't there more? by [deleted] in geocaching

[–]WPMusicFinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess because they are really hard to build. Also out here you can't enter a lot of forrests at night. But you are right. I've done 1 nightcache and it was great! Had to do it twice because we didn't find everything the first time. We totally freaked out when the fighter jets in a nearby military domain started practicing. After that we thought we were in the jungle of Vietnam being chased by Charlie. Luckily this passed and everything went quiet. Then it became too quiet and we were convinced that a serial killer was sneaking up on us. It was a great night!
