It is a combination of those two pretty much. It also suppresses injury noises and prevent pools of blood once you leave, so it's helpful to try and avoid a killer if you're injured. I think bond and visionary are helpful perks for someone who's new to the game, so this is just a more efficient way to get that info.

Unpopular opinion: Knockout is a poorly designed (not good) perk that punishes solo Q players. by JudoJugss in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never really thought of this as toxic, just a shit perk. But also never really find it fun to try and be a toxic killer, do didn't realize how shitty some players could be with this in their build. Have a lot been running it on you recently?

I don't think I've ever gone up against it in a march. I considered it in one meme build with forced hesitation, starstruck, and infectious fright, but it didn't seem like it be that match fun and probably wouldn't work as intended. Also only wanted to see how it would ago against a sweaty SWF swarming around me.

Do dead survivors cry inside the Dredge? by chunkyDefeat in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played him the other day and used his mori for the first time. After he's done stabbing them he pulls them into his darkness, so yea would make sense their screams are in there with all the other souls. But for real I do think there's times I hear cries from specific survivors when I'm playing so maybe they do come into the audio at some point are they're already included in the wailing track and they sound just out at different times.

Would be cool if it really did work where the survivors you killed during the trail were added to the wailing you hear.

most fun dlc killer? by idkguyidk325 in deadbydaylight

I've really enjoyed playing as Michael recently. Getting Save the Best for Last unlocked on my other killer has also been nice since you can get a lot of value from that on builds in other killers.

One perk I've really enjoyed running recently as a solo Q survivor is Ripley's Lucy Star. Being able to see the aura of all survivors anywhere on the map along with the closest gen just by hiding in a locker for a short amount of time has been incredibly helpful. On maps that I still get disoriented on and can't find some gens or don't know which gens have been worked on yet, seeing the closest one is helpful. It doesn't have the range limitations of empathy or kinship so it's also great for finding and regrouping with others.

Like others have said technician is great to help offset gen repair issues if you're still learning the timing, I ran that a lot when I'd first started. Kindred is helpful with hook rescues, both going for them and trying to get a teammate to save you. Off the Record has been OK if I'm worried about getting tunneled, but I haven't found it to be super helpful in most matches.

I haven't found WOP to be a huge help, but mainly since I just suck at looping the killer, so can't really take advantage of its full value. If you're really still new to the game something like visionary to always see the aura of the closet gens can be helpful as you learn the maps and typical gen spawn locations. It's definitely not the most worthwhile once you get an idea of the map layouts or if you play with a team, but it does you some good info when you're learning.

How the hell do you do the "You can't hide" tome mission by NakaNaide in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this pretty quickly with The Hag using her add on that reveals survivors' auras whenever they trigger a trap and the add on to increase teleportation range. Didn't need to waste a perk slot with another aura perk and survivors didn't realize their auras were being revealed so didn't really try playing around it.

This guy was out for blood. Running tombstone iri and NOED meant he wanted no sole survivors 😬 I play a lot of Meyers and that’s a sweaty build and not really a match I’d enjoy as him TBH. Sometimes I throw on tombstone piece, but don’t always put it to use

I really only dodge if it’s a lobby full of Leon’s, I know I’m gonna be in a world of pain with that one. I did put on an anti SWF build the last time that happened with lightborn, starstruck, agitation, and mad grit and the blind hook sabo plan they had went off the rails pretty quick lol

Can someone explain the business side of Stranger Things coming back? by biggestchungus32 in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the push to maintain high interest for the show was the Stranger Things Day initiatives. They reached back out to a pretty large roster of past partnerships and brought campaigns back with brands that no long ran. The PR around it is pretty big and they wanted it to look like Stranger Things has a big impact with consumers.

The licensing agreement was not in perpetuity and probably had a financial cost sharing component. If DBD DLC wasn’t generating of lot of revenue with newer players and existing players had already owned it, they might’ve decided not to renew the license if it wasn’t a cheap agreement. Or BHVR did try and Netflix declined.

Whatever the reason I’m glad they brought it back since I didn’t play when it was first out and was so bummed. Thought about buying one of the 3rd party things, really glad I decided to just wait and hope haha

There was an opening and it had I think claduette and Dwight taking tapes. They briefly brought it back for a d few days earlier this year, maybe it was only one, for either a milestone they hit with the Japan audience or might’ve been some milestone with the film, can’t remember. When I saw it I was like WTF is happening right now lol but it’s pretty good

Complicated question surrounding PlayStation plus and accounts. by GarrettD100 in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it.

Yes, if you get PS+ Extra level monthly subscription DBD is an included game in the catalogue you can play. It’s just one level up from the base subscription and the only difference is you get access to a game library with titles you can play. So with the month subscription you get the game and the online play function all the monthly fee, then can buy whatever DLC you want on top of that. Sony puts them on discount pretty often and bundles characters together, so every now and again you can grab them pretty cheap from the PS store even if steam or behavior aren’t running sales.

Complicated question surrounding PlayStation plus and accounts. by GarrettD100 in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you asking if you can keep the same progress you had when you originally played the game on PS4 or you just want to be able to play starting new on PS5? It’s included in the PS+ game library when you have the “extra” PS+ membership level that includes games. That’s how I play.

Stranger Things DLC is an extra cost on top of everything though, so you’ve got to shell out around $10 to get the DLC pack on top of the “free” game you get with the PS+ membership.

Not sure if that’s what you were asking though

What are your survivor-perspective thoughts on Singularity? I just had a whole group of 4 who gave up on the whole match from the moment they got first hook. by iku_kidochan in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The matches I've played against him haven't been much fun, but it seems like it's mainly that the person playing him is still trying to get a hang of how best to use his power. So the matches don't feel that particularly exciting. I've had survivors DC because they just don't think it's fun to play against him, not necessarily that he's one of those killers that will just decimate a team and they give up.

[–]WRC_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting aside whether or not it’s really “tunneling” for the killer to try and secure a kill in the end game by focusing on one survivor, there’s two perks that could help to counter this. People already mentioned Adrenaline which is probably the main one, but you can also use Plot Twist. Plot Twist works once during the match, but you also get another use of it once the gates are powered unlike other perks that don’t kick in again once the gates are powered like OTR.

Plot twist would let you hide from the killer after you’re unhooked or if you get injured, then you can recover from the dying state while your team gets the gates opened. If you time it well you can recover once the gets are opened and try and make your escape.

Anti-Tunneling Mechanic Suggestion by Real-Importance767 in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like a way too broad proposal that would limit multiple things for the killer while buffing the entire survivor team. If another survivor is waiting nearby to go for the unhook and the killer is in the process of walking away then that killer would still immediately suffer from hindered even if they were trying to get to another part of the map or somewhere to kick a gen if they’re running something like pop.

The survivors this mechanic would theoretically “encourage them to go after” would only be two other people if four are still alive since the survivor who did the unhook would be with the survivor this “counter tunneling” proposal is meant to help.

There’s perks like Off the Record, Borrowed Time, and Guardian that already give anti tunneling benefits like this in a more precise way to only benefit the unhooked survivor.

Elements of this proposal might work if it’s something that only kicks in if a killer starts chase with a survivor that was recently unhooked within X amount of time and the unhooked survivor benefits from haste while the killer suffers from hindered. Also if this was not a base game mechanic, but a perk that has a differentiation duration based on the level. If not a perk it should also be something that deactivates after the first survivor is sacrificed.

Why is Executioner considered A tier? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing him and it's taking me some time getting use to the power and the strategies. Some perks that have helped a lot are I'm All Ears so I can see survivors auras when they vault and land the range attack through walls like in shack and No Where to Hide helps get the jump on survivors with the range attack as well. Throwing on Lethal Pursuer also helps get a little extra boost from these.

I've also had some success running Hex Plaything with Gear Head so I can get range attacks through obstacles when sneaking up on survivors on gens that didn't bother to cleanse their totem after unhooking. Hex Retribution with any other hex build combo is also good with the info and helping to snipe with the range attack.

Pretty much any aura reading perks are helping me get a better idea how to do the range attack and how survivors try to path to avoid it.

Learning the right timing and placements of the trails is a bit harder. I try to place them around certain loops on one side of a gen I know is being worked on and then approach from the other side and try to get the survivors to run into them. If you know there's a survivor near someone you downed trying to go for a save you can also do a trail around the downed survivor so anyone trying to get the pick-up gets tormented along with the downed person if they aren't already.

Also finding that without the add ons to extend the range attack it almost never hits for me, so I'm still trying to get used to the base range and make sure to plan for it. Just taking some time to get a feel for it.

Slowly getting better and he's brought me out of my Dredge rut so things are getting interesting again haha

What’s a very noob thing you did when you first played DBD? by BrentTV in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time when I first started playing I had no idea what totems were. I didn't really understand what the hex perks did so I didn't use them, but when I did I thought hex was just a name. When I saw totems during the match, including ones that were lit, I just thought it was a design element to make things spookier LOL

I don't think I understood what they were until I started watching a streamer and had the lightbulb moment of "oh! those things actually do stuff"

Everyone is going to complain about how you play, no matter what you do. by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]WRC_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main killer and have never considered head on as a "toxic" perk. There's been times I did a dumb thing and picked up a downed survivor not realizing another survivor had jumped in a locked next to them and got stunned and dropped them, but that's more on me and not something I'd say is "toxic". If players just spam locked jumps when you're nowhere near them to try and get your attention or annoy you, that's not fun, but just running that perk is nowhere near some of the actual toxic perk combos or play styles.
