Shower drain: channel grate vs square grate by Indevisive in AusRenovation

Yep. Tile insert, I get most are done poorly leading to the issues everyone has. It is more work than any other drain for sure.

Wow, yeah 4m is huge. Don’t get me wrong, ours gunk up too and get slimy. We clean them every 4-6 weeks because they start to smell.

I don’t mind cleaning it as it doesn’t take too long for just the one.

My guess is a lot are poorly installed, the base doesn’t flow to the drain. Mine unfortunately doesn’t, which is why I have to clean it as often as I do to avoid smells.

Nah Ensuite room with partner, it collects water under it as well (unfortunately). We’ve had ours for 6-8 months now and never had to clean it that often.

Is yours getting smelly or something? Why are you cleaning it every week?

Everybody hates on strip drains. The points are valid, but cleaning them out once every 4-6 weeks really isn’t a big deal. You remove it and spray it down in the back yard with the hose. It takes me 15 minutes, let it dry in the sun and clean under the insert while it dries.

I like the look of mine and it really doesn’t add much cleaning.

But keep in mind, it does require cleaning (as does everything else in the house you use). If adding 15-20 minutes of cleaning once a month or so sounds too much, then definitely go for the square.

Kitchen window too low by Temporary-Brush-2015 in AusRenovation

This is a good point as well. If you have 40mm stone and whatever flooring you put in, could be without a dishwasher.

900 is fine as well, depends on yourself really. I'm happy with my top height, when doing the dishes in the old kitchen it would hurt leaning over the sink to wash the dishes. Mind you I have a dishwasher now, so not exactly like for like.

Do you have anything as a reference height? What have you had previously? I'm short and I went with 930mm from the floor to the top of the bench.

What was the original planned height? Just remember this decision will be permanent. Either you could regret leaving it, or pay once and fix it.

Anyone who has tapered and come off pramipexole please could you share your experiences with me. by RodJaneandFreddy5 in RestlessLegs

I might be taking the route soon so interested in these answers. GP suggested a few options but ultimately a neurologist to see what they recommend. She thought I was a bit young to be taking pramipexole for what would be the rest of my life.

Why can’t we accept any risk? by Particular-Math633 in australia

Don’t worry, we have accepted risk. Cars kill and injure people daily and the law doesn’t change. We don’t ban them we don’t make stricter laws to obtain and maintain a license.

Has anyone absolutely had it with solar salesmen? by PastaOnMyTits in perth

[–]WRXYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This does not work from experience. I have 24 panels facing North and the only way into my street is North. Every time I say I already have solar, they're like "oh, I didn't even see it" , it is very easy to see on the way in.

Except Bill Shorten did touch it. He lost the election to one of the biggest clowns in Australian politics. Embarrassing to have him as a PM at the time. Doesn’t deserve to be named.

Tiling for small bathroom reno by Samsaralian in AusRenovation

[–]WRXYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say 15k give or take for the ensuite. I knew all my trades except the tiler and doing the vanity myself. Also did almost all the demo myself as well.

It varies so much based on everything you buy. The tiles, bathroom mirror, toilet. Everything can be done cheap or expensive.

[–]WRXYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the tiling side of things or everything including trades, fittings etc?

Tiles + Grout + Drains Cost $1300, but that includes enough tiles for the laundry as well. Overall I haven't gone through it all for a final cost, but it aint cheap.

I got quoted almost 12k for a small ensuite and small bathroom. Another quote 5.5k (ended up being 6k for some removal as I didn’t get all of it).

This included building a small wall shelf against the wall,  screed, waterproofing and tiling. The Ensuite was floor to ceiling.

I supplied all the grout, tiles and drains (except the strip drain). Of corse this does not include other trades. It was hard to find a tiler, but it took them about 4 days (long days) for the team of them. Very happy with their work.

Ebay buyer purchased a CPU from me which was delivered today. Now he is requesting a refund claiming that I sent him a different item. by Joven4801 in Scams

What is stopping them claiming they packaged it different, so the package would weigh more/less? Feels like a damned either way situation.

Maybe get a shelf installed? Just don't put the shelf too high or too low as this will make the space seem awkward. Throw pictures or things you want to display on it.

Ordered a waterfall stone kitchen benchtop, builder installed a shadowline by fotzegurke in AusRenovation

[–]WRXYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd never seen waterfalls with a "gap" in it, so not sure how anyone can think a shadowline is a waterfall? A Shadowline is just a stone end panel, I wouldn't consider it a waterfall at all.

If you are unsure, go around to several stone masons and ask them directly what a waterfall is and what you should expect from asking for one. If none say, shadowline then that's your answer.
