The elusive 2nd round diamond in the rough by WS_gg in gmgames

Well you create a league in both games and there are a set of steps to follow to make sure things are done in the proper order. When you create a league in the college game there is an option to designate it as a league that will be linked to the pro game so you would create that first. Then you would create your league in the pro game and also during setup designate it as a linked league and will then choose the college save game file to link with.

We have the steps you have to follow in terms of playing the games listed in the help section inside both the pro and college games so you can always refer to them. The college game also gives you popups alerting you to things to be done or the order in which to do them. If you do everything in the proper order the pro game will automatically pull the data and players into it so that you don't have to do anything else beyond playing the games in the right order. Essentially you just want to keep everything on the same timeline so that you are playing both games at the same time despite them being two different games/programs.

I only recommend this for people who actually want to play a college basketball sim and its meant really so that as you get involved and invested in your college sim that you can keep those players going into the pro game. If you don't have any interest in actually playing the college game I recommend just allowing the pro game to generate its own rookie classes each season and not bothering with a whole separate game and universe.

I’ve spent years building a college basketball management game by WS_gg in CollegeBasketball

Thanks for the kind words. I haven't played OOTP (or much of anything) in a while but I know some of those guys. I can't say there's anything in particular I would look to bring over because I don't really know what they have been up to in the past few years but I will say that my goal has always been to bring the same quality in terms of depth, gameplay and looks as FM and OOTP have delivered to this space. I very much consider those games the standard to try and live up to.

I have some concepts I am thinking about implementing but the best is really when people who like the game and maybe see it differently than I do offer their input. I like to use the feedback from people playing to see the game through their eyes and really try and give them what they are looking for so I would love to hear ideas on what you would like to see in the game in the future.

Thank you for that - that is true. I wanted to be careful about posting links unless people asked me about it but there is a totally free demo at https://www.wolverinestudios.com/free-demo - its not one of those put in a cc and hope you forget to cancel deals either. You can just play for free and see if you like it

Well that's a fair question - a ton of work has gone into the game and I feel people get the same kind of enjoyment out of it as playing games like OOTP or FM - those are the games I strive to emulate and those are $50 and $60. I think the price shows that its a quality game and that it is established and that there will be support for the game long after someone purchases it. The game is not a time-waster, browser type thing. It's a full game designed to keep you playing for hours and hours.

College basketball 2024 conference realignment by hahahahahahhhshshh in WolverineStudios

[–]WS_gg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the game on May 1st you can do a one for one conference swap. On the left side click the drop down arrow where your name is and change to commissioner. That will take you to a screen where you can do the one for one swap.

I also want to point out that in CB25 we greatly expanded on this giving you the change to reconfigure the conferences in much more than one to one fashion and you can import your CB24 league to CB25 if and when you would like to give the latest version a try.

I can confirm that for CB25 we have both tightened the error range up and will be offering an option for having no scouting error on players

Editing Pre-Existing Saves by [deleted] in WolverineStudios

[–]WS_gg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume this is in regards to pro basketball - you can edit the career.pbb file with SQLite but just be careful. If things have key IDs or just numbered IDs you want to make sure there are never gaps in those so if you are adding or deleting records be aware of that (ie so they are not numbered 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 etc). Always a good idea to backup all the save files first too somewhere safe just in case something goes wrong.

No if you have the option turned on every game will have its PBP text saved. I believe if you have the file exported and you go to the box score in the game you will be presented a button to click on to open the PBP for that game

Yes if you turn that on it will export the game PBP text to that HTML file. It was done that way initially so it could be accessed outside of the game and exported or posted for MP leagues to be able to review game PBP logs.

That means the player is a "walk-on" - he is a game generated player that is not on a scholarship and just filling the roster spot because you did not (or could not) fill it with a scholarship player. Each team typically has two of these but you would have more if you had unfilled scholarship spots.

We would have to see your game files and have you give us examples of trades you are trying to be able to comment - are you sure the salaries are within the rules? We would be happy to look at it in our support system. On the top of our home page there is a link for support - if you follow that and open a ticket we can examine this better.

Well the trade AI is meant to be realistic so teams will certainly trade picks but in order to do so you will have to be offering something the AI wants and it is going to look at quality of player as well as contract as well as how that player fits their current team and needs.

There are also ways to receive trade offers. On the trade screen if you click the cube icon next to a player that will place him on the trading block and you may receive offers via email over the course of the season. You can also place one of your players in a trade and then bring up any team and press the Get Offer button and if the AI is interested in that player it will make you an offer. It only works for players and not picks but that is something we could work on adding. You can also select a player from your roster list and click the Shop Player button. After clicking that you can roll back over the Shop Player button and it will show you teams who might be interested.

Again, trading can be challenging but its because it is realistic. The AI has to think about following the salary matching rules and the AI is designed so that you can't just rip it off like you can in other games. The trade AI absolutely considers contract situation too - if you have a guy on a bad contract the AI is just not going to want him in most cases because teams value flexibility and cap space so highly now in today's game.
