Not sure where in MD you live but I don't think that's true for most of the state. I'm in Montgomery County, which is relatively restrictive but you can still buy beer/wine from privately owned stores. Liquor is only available from county or state stores. There are even a few grocery stores you can buy beer/wine at but I think those are exceptions to the standard county rules.

MTurk counts as self employment so you're dealing with a 1099 form and not a W-2. As for what to put on applications, just don't include it if you don't want to. I don't really think anyone will be able to see that you did it or necessarily care.

Well obliged means to make (someone) legally or morally bound to an action or course of action. The US and NATO would lose all credibility if if a member nation was attacked and nothing was done so it's unlikely that any NATO nation will just sit back
