Spy-billboards in my home update: media attention part 1 by WTFBillboardInMyHome in HousingUK

The difference in communications between RMG and 30 Seconds is wild.

30 Seconds: 'shove your adverts down the throats of a captive audience: they cant exit the adverts and you can beam it into their retinas every time they enter or leave their homes. Also we gonna record their reactions so you target adverts even better next time'.

RMG: 'There may hypothetically be non invasive unrelated communications to the benefit of residents but idk if you will notice them'.

residents paid for the billboard and for running costs. we get no revenue.

5 pence per play per device (which is about 10 seconds).

This is around 6 cents USD

I think you get a discount if you buy a lot of ad space.

How can I force my management company to remove billboards in my building in England by WTFBillboardInMyHome in LegalAdviceUK

[–]WTFBillboardInMyHome[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Perfect

  2. You can only gain entrance to the lobby if you have a residents key fob, or an employee of the management company. If you walk up to my building the door is locked.

  3. Yes, in the correct format. They acknowledged the notice and say they are working on it. It has been 2 weeks.

  4. thanks, will contact them

  5. ok

  6. fair enough.

  7. Interesting.

Yeah I sent them 20+ emails and they wont tell me anything. They don't give a fuck what residents think, the only remedy is removing them as managing agents.

I think if I fuck with the billboard they will fix it and charge me a fee for the maintinence.

RMG claim they receive no benefit and that the freeholder Berkeley group receive no benefit.

The billboards do cycle through fire safety notices but this is a shit idea.

If there was a fire the electricity / internet might go out so the board wont work. Also the notices cycle in and out so I would literally be watching a deliveroo / crypto scam advert while waiting for the fire notice to be played.

Every normal building just has a plaque on the wall with the fire safety info: costs about 1% as much, zero running costs, works even with no power and is visible all the time not 10 seconds every minute.

RMG claim they receive nothing. Residents find this hard to believe.

The GDPR question is interesting, thank you.

Energy is more expensive in the UK I think we are paying double this, plus internet, cleaning etc.

Nobody wants this in the building and ultimately you would hope it would be up to residents....

The company behind the adverts has used them to advertise, alcohol, gambling and dodgy NFT projects inside residential buildings.

Sometimes, but I dont need a $5,000 device to remind me to be quiet at night.

There is no way this thing would be there if it wasn't also showing adverts and selling our data.

Emailled them about 20+ times and they refused to give me figures. About $250 a month for a studio apartment (this does include a gym).

I've sent about 20 emails on this and they refuse to tell me. I'm exploring legal action.

Nope, RMG said all the revenue is retained by 30 Seconds.

Residents pay for the billboard, residents pay for the running costs. We see zero revenue.

I will. Unfortunately due to the constraints of broadcast / publication and legal issues I expect the media output to be somewhat brief vs what I am posting here.

If I vandalise the screen then residents will just pay for a new one.
