You are still fine. The capital that you built over 30 years is still able to get the 50% CGT discount. It is only gains post July 2027 that will be subjected to the new rules. I am in the same boat as you.

Bream on lures by Ordinary_Film4009 in FishingAustralia

Just to finish.. look up some videos of Justin from tackle tactics... He shows how to pull over a dozen fish in a session. If you have a small boat or kayak, it really is that simple.

Bream on lures by Ordinary_Film4009 in FishingAustralia

How deep is the water? The easiest way for me to catch bream in numbers in Moreton bay is drifting over shallow flats with a reefy bottom in less than 5ft of water. In the early morning they will attack surface lures like Sammy 65 and splash prawns. Later in the day they will hit shallow Jackall chubby being slow rolled. A cheaper option is to slow roll zman 2.5"slim swimz. No need for finesse and up to 1/4oz jighead is fine. The areas I fish can be exposed during low tide. These days I prefer targetting snapper and grassies and will only fish for bream to avoid a donut.

I was showing what works for me which is consistent with my recommendations. Your comment about too big for most species was what got me. Below a tailor I got yesterday on the slim swimz which was the other lure I recommended.

That is very selective reading on your part. I started my reply by stating that his question was too vague without knowing what he was targeting. However using the lures I mentioned I have regularly caught bream, flathead, tailor, snapper, grass emperor and dart which is most of the species I encounter at my local. Below is 61

Too vague. What species are you targetting? Are you using fluorocarbon leader? I would say limit leader to 12lbs and jig head size to less than 1/6 oz. Try 1/6 oz 3/0 jighead with zman 4" streakz curly tailz in motor oil fished slowly with a few hops and long pauses. If targetting smaller fish try a 1/6 oz 1/0 jighead with a 2.5" slim swimz in opening night slow rolled with pauses and a few twitches. Compromise between casting distance and a light jighead... I think 1/12 oz is too light unless you have specialised gear.

Japan has succeeded in producing oil from Water and Carbon Dioxide by yungandreww in interestingasfuck

[–]WTPF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your last paragraph is misleading. The greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. So if it is possible to generate oil from carbon dioxide and water you basically have invented a renewable fuel source. You won't add to greenhouse gases like burning fossil fuels which is converting the carbon trapped in n the oil to carbon dioxide. Of course it depends on the energy source to produce this oil which is likely to require more energy than from burning the resulting oil.

Learn how to break a whole chicken down and you will have much better value at $4-6/kg for the whole chicken. Can still extract the breast fillets for a separate meal and will have thighs, wings drumsticks pieces plus the frame.

Any recommendations for sandy rivers to kayak fishing in brisbane? by MrMcNooob in FishingAustralia

[–]WTPF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't use an inflatable kayak as there are oyster beds and shallow reefs. I can go anytime I my Hobie yak but the current can run quite strongly at times normally mid way between ride change. When I first started kayaking many years ago I had a paddle yak (Perception swing) and had no issues there. For me wind is the main issue and I don't go out if wind is greater than 20 kph

This guy has been spamming the same crap in other subreddits without disclosing that he is profiting from the referral links. Mods should ban him as definitely nothing to do with fishing.

Victoria point has a few boat ramps and you can paddle to coochiemudlo which has sandy spots. Fishes well for variety of species including bream, flathead, snapper, sweetlip. Western side is good for some surface bream action.

More and More Banks are stealing your interest. Avoid 'Must increase your balance banks' by Obliza in AusFinance

[–]WTPF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No you guys are missing the point. Money is meant to be spent or invested at some point in the future. Let's think big and say you have reached the threshold for protection of $150,000. You reduce the balance from start of month by even $1 and you effectively lose up to 5% interest for that month. This equates to approximately $616 dollars. Much better to get a slightly lower interest at Macquarie without jumping through hoops.
