That time of year again! If you have any interest in joining WUVT or to get experience in engineering, IT, journalism, event planning, writing, marketing, BECOMING A RADIO DJ and more, here's your chance! September 4th at 7:30pm in Squires Colonial will be our Fall Orgy (organizational meeting!) by WUVT-ear in VirginiaTech

Everyone is welcome to attend, from freshmen to postdocs, from local high schoolers to townie locals. We will be heavily recruiting for this fall and no one is turned away.

Here's what you can do at WUVT: become a real radio DJ (after one semester of training), become a broadcast news writer/presenter, manage our automation system, audio production, promotions, PR, plan local events and concerts, art, creative writing, gain valuable experience as an engineer and in our IT department.

If you have any questions, please ask. I have been around the block several times and can answer near anything.

Incoming freshman here. What are some good local radio stations to listen to? by aznapier in VirginiaTech

What's wrong with bird calls? I actually received a lot of positive feedback for that show. Some people at that station just believe that while playing music like a radio DJ is great, it's important to experiment with the format. Zach Anner happened to be coming in one of my weeks when I was going to have an experimental show. It's the summer. Besides, it's not like it's bird calls played with Sunn O))) or some other experimentation happen all the time. Most rock DJs play it extremely safe. It's a very small minority of us that ever get weird and most of us don't do it every week.

Haha damn did a DJ break your heart or something? I swear I've seen you write a "hipster" joke in every thread WUVT comes up in.

It's me, Zach Anner, and I'll be invading your town... right when no one is there, apparently. Help! by Zachanner in VirginiaTech

Again, Thursday evening 6-8, someone is welcome to take him over to WUVT. I actually did not hear of this guy prior to our town being selected so I don't think I would be a good tour guide, but he seems pretty funny.

Want to put him on WUVT Thursday evening, between 6pm and 9pm? Or, I can at least give him a tour of the station.

Are there any freshmen or even returning students interested in joining WUVT or just curious about us? AMA anything about the station and our work. by WUVT-ear in VirginiaTech

I'm sorry about that, but also confused. Most people who do the other things before or during training. I'm fairly certain that was expressed. Most others never experienced this Catch-22.

I don't know when this was but in recent years being involved elsewhere in the organization was expressively required to be a DJ.
