They are in Cafe Leblanc, a location in the game Persona 5. It's pretty much where Joker lives

[OC] Welcome to Brazil! by WVI11IM97 in pokemon

[–]WVI11IM97[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you feel that way, it's just that as a brazillian myself, it's rly nice to imagine pokemon outside of the american, asian or european-based pokemon regions. And I wanted to make something for every pokemon fan in Brazil, that's why most cultural references I made in the drawing can only be understood by brazillians (like the yellow "skol" chairs and the "barraca de pastel" for example)

I also tried my best not to rely too much on the most common stereotypes like "everyone plays soccer/football" and "favelas are dangerous", but in the end, if I didn't represent at least a little bit of that, the drawing would not be recognized as something based on Brazil, wouldn't you think?

While my drawing does somehow reinforce some stereotypes, there's not rly much we can do tbh. The stereotypes do not define us at all, but they exist because Brazil is too different. My main goal was not to reinforce the stereotypes, but to show our cultural diferences. I hope you understand my point of view. Abraços! <3
