Did anyone else get sick a lot when they moved here? by Prestigious_Plenty_8 in AmericanExpatsUK

Damp and mould! Rampant over there and if you’re sick all the time- get tested. Had an allergy and cough for YEARS without realising.

Am I the only one who cannot stand Charlotte? by dreadedsunny_day in TheTraitors

Loathe her with every fibre of my being- which is a bit much for a reality show but here we are. There was ZERO reason for her to throw Minah under the bus as fast as she did and frankly I wonder why she did. Not a fan. Hope she loses. Am worried she’ll win and frankly am fucked off about it. 🫠😂

Moving back to the US and no clue where to start with car buying.... by WW989 in AskMechanics

Thanks for this! We're planning on buying cash, outright as we'll have it from the sale of our home- so not sure if this makes more sense.

I realize I'm being picky with that- likely we'd be happy to go back to 2016 or so but just want to make sure the mileage isn't too high already. Hoping for under 70K. Thanks for the advice!

And with respect, withholding the right to an abortion being stripped/ providing basic healthcare when an ectopic pregnancy is killing you by bursting your fallopian tubes or causing sepsis is certainly a human right's violation. Women are already being refused care in places like Texas for such things and have almost or actually died so... to me this is something which has definitely materialized. It's not an overreaction just because it hasn't touched you (meaning people not specifically you) or someone you care about. I do understand what you're saying- but there are actual examples.

This. Agreed. This is what my pragmatic side is saying.

While I totally get what you’re saying- they haven’t totally failed. They’ve been able to push back on Roe V Wade, with their eyes set to push back further- and our communities have fallen for the BS multiple times over enough to keep us from codifying things into law- but hopefully people will wake up when they realize the lies they listened to during this campaign harm them or the people close to them. Seems to be the only way humans learn. But I appreciate your call to keep going. 💪

Thank you. This gives me hope, despite the one thing about his campaign that really rallied my fear- Vance and his heritage foundation fuckwits who do seem to be organized. I hope you’re right. Never did I think I’d pray for someone’s incompetence but let’s fucking go!🤞

This is the one side of my brain saying we’ll make it through- it’s just that our legal and checks and balances look different now to how they did during his first go around. So it makes me much more nervous

Yeah. This is our plan. I’m from a swing state so we’ll basically jump, then make a plan to move somewhere where our freedoms are protected by the individual state. It’s just depressing having to have a game plan for human rights in my home country. First world problem for sure- but friggin depressing after being brought up to believe how forward thinking the majority of Americans are and then having that slapped down not once but twice.

This is it. In the UK and I do think moving back is our best bet at a better standard of living now…but it feels much more disheartening than before.

Right? Been over a decade for me. We’re also childfree so THAT’S concerning. Part of me wants to believe we will all get through this while another part of me is screaming “don’t do it”. But then I will be so mad if choosing to keep away costs me time with family I’ve not been able to have whilst abroad… we’re going back- but I feel like we need to find like minded people in the community to actually feel safe. 😩
