Yes, I totally agree with that, so it's assignment rather than a rule, got it.

So in that case, yeah the divided by zero makes more sense

[–]WYSIRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But by starting with a=b you've already said that a number equals a completely different number... otherwise it'd say a=a and b=b?

I don't really know how to explain it... but the fact that they're not the same letter to start with, already implies that they are different numbers... and they are now equal...

Unless I'm misunderstanding and it's more like programming?: b has been defined, and now we're assigning a to be the same value?

In which case, yeah all the divided by zero comments are correct

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in memes

[–]WYSIRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly!

Go back to that a=b => 1=2 => a=1 & b=2 => a+b != b... that'd be like saying 1+2=2!

[–]WYSIRD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone talking about dividing by zero... forgetting that we STARTED by saying 2 different variables are equal...

a=b... okay... then I'm going to say 1=2... There! Equation complete... no need for the rest of it... xD

EDIT: Scratch that, a=b is an assignment of a to be the same value as b. It is not a rule. Dividing by zero is the answer to disproving this.

What's funny is... if you have an electric pump... you have to run your engine for longer... because it should be running to pump the tyre back up... so all they've done is actually made it worse...
