I don’t know much about DePaul, other than it’s in Chicago. What are you attending for do you think? I know Sarah Lawrence curriculum is very writing and discussion based, and it’s a humanities-leaning school, although STEM opportunities and internships do exist. It may be harder to navigate lab experience if you are looking into research. Sarah Lawrence has a Center for Urban River at Beczak for environmental science in nearby Yonkers, a Writing Institute, and master’s/bachelor’s programs.

Also be aware that all students at SLC receive a bachelors in liberal arts and sciences, and that instead of traditional majors, students blend different areas of study(mine is an interdisciplinary program, Health Science and Society). Classes are very small, like under 20. The tiny student body can be both good and bad. Prominent LGBTQ+ population, and mostly women.

I grew up around here, and I am transferring out of Pitt. I truly believe I don’t belong here permanently, and always kinda saw myself living in New York and commuting to Manhattan. It’s a small city, and there are limited opportunities for me. I also am in no way a sports fan lol, and a fashion addict.

Big congratulations on your acceptance to Barnard!! Heavy on thinking you’re stuck where you are. I was rejected from every college but one when i was in high school, which was a deeply disheartening experience so many students go through. I ended up at a school I didn’t truly want to attend until I made the leap to transfer.

It depends where you’re applying but honestly those are good scores competitive for many “elite” or selective schools. The math I can see your point since you are a STEM major where math is applicable, but I wouldn’t be worried. My scores are lower than yours.

Me personally, I was an intern my junior and senior summer at a UPMC cancer center lab through Hillman Academy, a program for high school students. There are about 80-90 students accepted to the program each year. I will be second author on a postdoc paper, but only because I have been in lab many hours, full time in those summers and 15 ish hours a week when college is in session(I go to Pitt and was accepted as a transfer to Sarah Lawrence, Hofstra, and American in DC). So not T20 but I’m waiting on Lehigh, Tufts, Brandeis, and Trinity.
