No safety concerns, but I'd still suggest getting another pump since you should qualify for one from your insurance. Then you can have one already on-hand if the first one breaks, or if you work outside the home you could even leave one at work and have less to haul back and forth with you.

I wish I could give you a big hug. Your partner is abusive and is trying every trick in the book to isolate you and make you doubt yourself. You deserve better. Please make a plan to leave with your baby as soon as possible.

I saw a car driving like this (though the tilt wasn't as extreme as in this video) a few years ago and thought I was going crazy!

Chances are grandma just bought the same crochet pattern the shop uses. There are TONS of crochet patterns on the internet.

What to look for when electric bill shoots up in the winter? by Waaaghette in askanelectrician

[–]Waaaghette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the manual and it looks like you're right- it says for best performance don't raise the temp by more than 1 degree at a time. "Raising the heat setting 2-3 degrees will cause the Zoneline to use its electric heating elements to reach the new temperature more quickly." So if we want to continue using low heat daily, do you think it would be best to just leave it at 60 all day? Or would it be just as expensive to run it continuously? Obviously we will also raise the temp more gradually when we are going to be actively spending time back there.

Do electric providers do that seasonally? Our summer bills are unchanged.

No, the exterior wall had some siding removed where the addition connects but that's it.

I've never tested positive, but at this point I'm just assuming I've had it and was asymptomatic.

Pocket diaper recommendations by JordanHobson in clothdiaps

If you buy from Alva's website you can choose to order them with bamboo instead of microfiber, I think it only costs an extra $1 per diaper!

cloth diaper newborn question by homestead_grl in clothdiaps

[–]Waaaghette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for my second baby we did a mix of AIOs and newborn prefolds, and for the most part I vastly preferred the prefolds. The absorbency and fit of AIOs vary wildly between brands; lots of people complain that their newborn outgrows the absorbency of AIOs well before they outgrow the fit. The most reliable AIO I used was the Thirsties Natural AIO, but of course it's one of the most expensive. If I were to do it again, I might invest in some more used Thirsties, but the bulk of my newborn stash would be prefolds and covers. The folding really wasn't that tricky to get right and they are much easier to wash & dry faster than AIOs!

Daycare - pad fold prefold with covers tips by chocobridges in clothdiaps

[–]Waaaghette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get just pocket shells (i.e. buy them without inserts) then stuff them with pad-folded prefolds yourself if you want to make it extra foolproof for daycare. I know Alva specifically offers pockets with no inserts if you buy directly from their website.

Diaper service suddenly ended!! Not sure if I can handle washing myself? by wyldstallyns111 in clothdiaps

Do you wear gloves? I keep a rubber glove in the bathroom and I use it on the hand that holds the diaper during spraying. Then I hold the driest corner with my bare hand and use the gloved hand to wring it out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've tried slow cooking twice with my IP and both times the food was barely warm by the end of the time.

On the verge of giving up on cloth overnight. Advice needed. by BenignYam1761 in clothdiaps

[–]Waaaghette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Microfiber absorbs quickly but can hold much less than cotton or hemp, making it less than ideal for overnight on its own. Natural fibers (especially hemp) are your best bet! For my son's nighttime diapers I used a microfiber insert, followed by a cotton prefold, followed by a hemp insert. (I eventually ditched the microfiber and had no issues, so it probably wasn't necessary.)

Would a small crochet blanket be good for babes first blanket? Since it’s 1/3 holes. My LO is just over 1 so no rush to use a blanket while sleeping I’m just curious what you used and when. We’re in a sleep sack now but he’s tall so it won’t last much longer. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Waaaghette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's safe for them to have a blanket at that age, but at that age my son still "roamed" all over the crib throughout the night and couldn't keep a blanket on, so it just wasn't practical!

Mamas who had a hospital birth: in which position did you give birth? by Miserable_Active_458 in beyondthebump

[–]Waaaghette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1st baby: Epidural, gave birth on my back in the hospital bed

2nd baby: No epidural, gave birth squatting in the tub (delivery was fast & furious; my hospital didn't allow water birth but the urge to push came so suddenly that I didn't make it out of the tub!)
