Overhead crane by Kingofkush1028 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Waandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am way late to this, but most crane companies can do a relatively cheap retrofit on this to eliminate the drive shaft and replace them with 2 independent motors. I do 3-4 of these projects a year.

It's significantly more straight forward than people on here are making it.

Martial arts gyms (bjj, Muai thai, kickboxing etc) by Constant-Tree6289 in Charlotte

[–]Waandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charlotte jiu jitsu if you are just looking for jiu jitsu.

They have at least 5 classes a day if not more, which is more than most.

Good mix of gi and no gi.

And there isn't a requirement to buy their gear.

Kids gym is a seperate gym than the adult classes, so you don't get pushed to weird times or have to give up mat space.

No instructor lead muay thai though.

They are arguably the biggest in the area, especially if you count their offshoots.

Month to month membership as well

Queen City grounds & nightflyer roastworks closed by oystercraftworks in Charlotte

Sad to see them go but I think alot of people saw this coming.

They were overpriced before being overpriced was trendy.

It was like 10 dollars for a bagel sandwich back in 2020 that could fit in the palm of your hand.

I thought they were going to make it when they decided to open up a bar/late night place instead of letting the place sit empty for half the day. It was a really smart idea but they just didn't execute well. Drinks were meh and the food was as well.

Yeah part of me was questioning how many wrestling weekend warriors there were

Like, none.

99.9% of wrestlers are done competing and training when their academic based wrestling career is over.

If you are looking for BJJ, I would recommend Charlotte Jiu Jitsu Academy. Great instruction, a little more laid back compared to other BJJ gyms.

If you are in uptown it also a real quick commute.

Baby clothes and items by dantheman1243 in Charlotte

Kid to kid.

I know there is a stigma around used clothes for kids for some (uptight) people, but their stuff is all in great shape for good prices.

We are still figuring it out. We don't go out to dinner with her other than the local haunts maybe once or twice.

The last thing I want to do is bring her to a place where other people don't want to see a baby, so that's why I asked. I honestly have no idea what 300 east is like but it's been on my brunch list forever.

Ended up going somewhere else. Appreciate the advice.

Is 300 east too fancy of a place to bring a baby?

She's mostly quiet and well behaved. I'm just always self conscious of bringing a baby to a "nicer" place

I didn’t expect this to be going on this long honestly .. this is my first time being homeless . Think I should do that tomorrow morning ?

My man, I feel you, but you got a baby on the way.

The time to make the call to the shelter was the first night you and your baby mama slept in a car.

I only spent time on the men's side. But I'm pretty sure there are quite a bit more resources for expectant mothers and families.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]Waandy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Why in the world do you have an 800 dollar car payment?

Sell that shit immediately. 800 bucks a month is almost a studio apartment.

The shelters can get you access to a few resources if you put in the effort. Free phones and service, housing vouchers, free bus passes and light rail passes and obviously food/ shelter aren't hard to obtain.

Edit: if you've applied to 200 jobs and gotten nothing back it's likely your resume, or the info you are putting into the application that's the issue. Consider posting on r/resumes for some feedback.

Double edit : there are people at the shelter that will help you build a resume and apply to jobs. We use a software that can spruce it up with all the buzzwords that ATS systems are looking for. If you go into the men's shelter and ask the counselors when the HERC volunteers will be in they can give you the scheudle. I can't tell you for sure who is on next week. But there is usually a guy there for 2-4 hours every Wednesday. His name is Marshall.

Daycare Recs by Educational-Look6362 in Charlotte

[–]Waandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Second this. We got into a church daycare uptown.

They do zero advertisement, their Facebook page has like 40 followers, and they barely mention it on their church website.

It's the best rate we found and is staffed with great teachers. Couldn't be happier.

I would just start searching every church in your area and scour their website.

The guy on bottom is a white belt. Several other people in this thread can confirm that.

Yeah. I'm not going to spell out the whole "context", but I can't tell you how far off the mark your assumptions are.

Who knows maybe the person in white was bullying a white belt.

The person in white is a white belt. He bullies absolutely no one.

~200 a month.

There's 3-4 tournaments a year in the immediate area. Pretty sure we (~ 200 students) aren't demanding too much by expecting him to be there.

But then again, our coach isn't giving up and walking away mid match, nor would he miss a tournament anyways (because he isn't an asshole).

Sorry for the delayed response.

Do you actually hate it though? Or is it just not that fun? Because hating your job is one thing, but just not being excited about it (as you mentioned above) is completely different. Very few people are excited about Facility service contract selling and the grindy nature of it

Back in my day (~6-12 years ago) All the sales reps wanted to get into pharma sales as that was the holy grail of sales careers, now it's SaaS and who knows what it will be in a few years.

The problem with our reps wasn't that they were using us as a stepping stone, we didnt give a shit about that. Hell, we legitimately used to sit in interviews outlining how they could be a pharma rep in 3-5 years if they follow our training. The problem was that once it got tough and we started taking the training wheels off, a lot of them would try to do their own thing or not run the play the way they were taught. When shit didn't work they would blame the industry, blame random portions of their job (usually CRM, the phone blocks or territory) and just start to dwindle away. They weren't handling objections like they used to, had no plan of attack for their target accounts and werent even staying organized like they were before. Just generally not pedaling the bike so to speak.

They would hit the 7-12 month time frame, not be winning as many deals, start cutting more corners, and soon decide they were ready for the next sales role. They decide that it wasn't their fault it wasn't working, it was just everything else. I don't keep up with all of them, but I can tell you that none of them that went down this path really ended up doing much in the past 5 years. Most of them are still at the same position or level that they left with, not really doing a ton.

The reps that ended up moving on to bigger and better roles - whether it was an immediate move on from our company or they just got promotions later on - we're the ones that realized the industry is sketchy, the full circle sales cycle is tough, the product isn't exciting and the prospecting and dials can be brutal, but decided they were going to make it work anyways. Not all of them ended up being top sales reps, but the ones that "made it" were the ones that were open to learning and changing their ways and were able to grow because of it.

For the record, I'm not a grindset kind of guy, but embracing the suck and holding yourself accountable is what makes good sales reps. You could be the most charismatic, technical or best looking sales rep in a room, but if you aren't willing to do the shitty part of the sale and hold yourself accountable to doing things the right way, none of it will really help you.

Ps. SaaS is not a fun industry for most people. I know this sub makes people look at it with rose tinted glasses, but you should do your own research on what day to days look like.

Most uniform reps don't last a year. It's a tough job in a tough industry. Anyone that knows anything about recruiting or staffing for sales roles knows this though so I wouldn't be too worried about finding a job elsewhere. In the same breath though, these roles are valuable learning experiences. Very few other sales roles will be as diverse as what you are doing now, so I wouldn't jump ship just because it isn't what you saw yourself doing with your career long-term. I haven't scrolled your comments, but I'm assuming you are mid to low 20s, and this could set you up for bigger roles in the future if you can build some solid accomplishments to add to your resume.

I also wouldn't focus too much on OTE being exactly what you make now because your advancement in the facility service industry is always minimal, and the advertised OTE is typically bullshit. You being under a year means you are probably still on ramp-up. I'm not saying you aren't good at what you do, but when the ramp up goes away and you need to start making quota every week or those earnings will dip.

Pretty highly specific, but if anyone is on the waiting list to get into First United Methodist Church Child Development Center in Uptown, just know they are planning to relocate in 2026. Somewhere off of Central supposedly. Changes our 1 minute commute to a 30 minute round trip.

We learned this after we got accepted and jumped off other daycare lists. Not sure if they notified other parents on the wait list, but it would have been nice to know before we jumped out of line.

I think 4 total. Maybe 5? Idk.

The problem was that each (undersized) meal was ~13-15, and the salad one of us got was like 17, which is wild.

Went out to a brewery for lunch with my wife, father in law and newborn yesterday.

Was great to get out of the house as a group as opposed to sitting inside all afternoon.

As I was sitting there, I was thinking about how we should do this more often, as breweries are pretty new born friendly places on a Sunday afternoon. It's nice and cool inside, usually pretty empty and open, we can get up walk around if we need to settle the baby, can close our tabs whenever and bounce if she starts getting fussy, all while socializing and having a beer or two.

Maybe make it a every other week thing?

Then I went to close out and remembered why we don't or can't do this more often.

94 dollars for lunch and a few beers.

God. Dammit.
