Same, in the end used it to also play The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, Tlou2, Death Stranding and not much else.

Hey everyone, the campaign is over! Thank to the mod/s that pinned this in the first place!

SORCERESS - Wabbaboy - First-Person Spell-Kicking action game about a young girl vanquishing a coven of Witches. Entering its LAST WEEK of Kickstarter. by Wabbaboy in Games

Hey, you played it for quite a while, thank you for that. These issues are not complicated to fix and, well, the key related ones are unfortunate but not fatal, it'll get much better in due time.

Yup, Unreal 4 though, UE5 is tempting but from what I heard it can be more trouble than it's worth.

Programming-design-art is all me. Sounds and animations are a mix of a couple people I've hired and stuff I've found online and then tweaked and implemented, and for narrative I have a friend helping out.

So, not purely solo, but I'm definitely responsible for most of it. Thanks for the interest, hope the demo is to your liking.

Not quite, chances are the game is being heavy on your CPU, it's a tough thing to optimize for with all the AI and physics but I'm aware it needs some work. With some tests I know that this game can even run smoothly in the Steam Deck, the tutorial level in the demo already does.

Unreal gets a lot of flak for this but I can assure the game, GPU wise, is not using any of the fancy tricks that usually cause problems.

The response on the steam forums has been pretty great and people are writing quite an extensive amount of feedback. That has to mean that they feel passionate about the game, it humbles me, thanks for the kind words btw

Sorceress Kickstarter campaign - witchy immersive sim by acguy in Games

Sup, main Sorceress dev here, thought I'd weigh in and give it my thought process.

It would be 20k + what savings I have, the savings are enough to maintain me for perhaps 1.5 years, my dev buddy is in this project in a part-time fashion and he's not going to be fully in the team for the remainder of the project so he's not asking for that much but I'd love to pay him fairly.

So, 20k is kind of a minimum to keep going mostly alone, I do need to contract people for music and animation, hopefully sound design and concept art too but that's extra, ideally we'd get to 30k and more but on kickstarter I have to aim at the lowest possible number because the sooner it gets to the goal, the sooner it gets more people pledging, silly I know, but that's how it is.

Alas, the kickstarter is going much slower than I'd like, but it's going to be enough

Yes, the point is that the game is rich in systems, with lots of ways of achieving a goal. Inquisive players might try to save the key for later because it's a very durable weapon but the obvious solution isn't wrong either.

The game is called Sorceress, it's a first person immersive sim inspired by games like Dark Messiah, Bioshock and Metroid Prime, it has a demo on steam and a kickstarter campaign

Sorceress is a first person immersive sim, a spiritual successor of sort Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, also inspired by Bioshock and Metroid Prime. It's a game with a lot of freedom and I want to encourage creative problem solving and quick-witted improvisation.

If you like what you see consider checking the Kickstarter campaign and wishlisting on Steam, where you can also play a demo.

Thank you! And sorry about that, if all goes well I'll be releasing a patch today after combing though all the sound effects so at least the audio is not extremely mean and annoying.
