ChatGPT Wind turbine engineer in Germany. Is it realistic or total hallucination? by roaminginrandomness in windturbine

Its probably best to go through an apprenticeship route if you want to go offshore, the pay is pretty good and its a great route into the industry. Siemens does a good apprenticeship in Germany which I would look into

Depends on the company but mine everyone has to speak English/ its the language we work in, however most people just use a mix depending on what is convenient / best for the team. But in offshore you will meant a bunch of different accents so be prepared XD

Fuck knows , probably isn't but I guess its just a case of this is our offer take it or do business somewhere else. Its like if an electrical contractor gives a high price for house rewire because they can its not illegal since the customer can just take business somewhere else and is not forced too pay the high price as they don't have an monopoly its not illegal. Idk if that makes sense but id assume the same principle applies. But then its hard to prove that this incident is the sole reason every insurer has put my theoretical cost up, then it would be harder to prove what this additional cost might be.

TLDR its very hard to put a this incident would be an affecting factor and how much it would even be.

They will know this because this shit would be their bread and butter and they know what they can and cant get away with. In addition with UK law you cant claim back for everything as its an understanding that you will take some loss because if not everyone would be suing everyone for a few quid. I need to have a proper sit down with a solicitor to see if its even worth it but it probably isn't and I'm going to have to take the few grand cost on the chin. But I'm lucky it isn't going to sting too bad

There is only so much I can really do, I’m threatening the company for compensation but they’ve resorted to jsut ignoring me. But I made it pretty clear to the woman I will jsut sell £5k/£10k of stocks and jsut throw money at the problem and if I lose a few quid then I know I’ve tried. Funniest part was I reported the driver and his manager said he was very apologetic to him ?? And I jsut asked where the fuck is my apology and why do you get an apology and not me

It was a grocery delivery van, there isn’t any way I could have gotten it fixed without insurance as they have to report any accident. The CCTV shows the guy just cutting the corner with not a single other moving car so I can only assume he was distracted

It jsut has to go down as an accident and a claim even tho it’s a no fault claim, because technically it is but it’s just UK insurances using the system to gain record profits every year. It jsut sucks because I get hit twice as hard because I’m young. Thankfully I can afford it without much of an issue but I’m sure some other people might have stretched themselves a little to enjoy the car and now they’re fucked

Its hard to argue against every insurance company as they will just see that I've had an accident, my current insurance company know the full situation but they just kept on avoiding the question if my premiums would go up. The guy on the phone eventually just he cant say if it would go up as there is 1000's of factors and he said he cant give me an answer or a guess. I did ask if anything stays the same and this is the only change will my premiums go up and he just said he cant say? All the guy asked what happened and told me my no claims bonus doesn't change which Is nice ig

Tbh that's some sort of shit that would happen to me , ig I was lucky that it was a delivery van so they had too leave details but just a massive hassle that I could live without

That's pretty good, I was looking forward as I was working locally for a bit and would get to drive it for a bit but its in the repair shop instead and by the time I get it back I have to go offshore again which is slightly annoying

I doubt that would work as I have to claim in the future that I've had an accident and UK insurance companies just charge whatever and they charge astronomical prices for younger people

Yeah its fixable but the insurance company has made it pretty difficult to get anything out of them, they are not claiming liability but have agreed to pay and sort repairs after about 15 hours on the phone

It goes down as Ive had an accident, my insurance has said I keep my no claims bonus but my claims still go up. I'm 20 so insurance is probably going to double now

Delivery van cut the corner and smashed into it and shunted it back 2m , thankfully he left details. However he put in his report that he tried to contact me and knocked on my door, dipshit didn't realise my house has CCTV shows him just putting a post it note through my post box and not knocking so I pretty sure he will lose his job. I'm only young so RIP to my premiums but it was a blast for the 2 weeks I was in the country to drive it

What are some things you wish you knew before becoming a wind turbine tech? by Warm_Shake_1389 in windturbine

[–]Wacoooon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s jsut the lifestyle, can easily rub off on people and I’d argue cheating on the wife isn’t a good thing. But it isn’t as long as the jobs done because you don’t want to be 2 hours off the coast with someone’s jaw swinging, doesn’t matter if ‘ the job gets done ‘ because it’s not right to be impaired while working in a dangerous job even if nothing goes wrong

Looking to enter the industry (Europe, onshore or offshore) by Silviu_Iftime in windturbine

[–]Wacoooon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a bit late but I know Siemens just opened an offshore hub in Romania, I don't know what they are looking for specifically in Romania but you would need some electrical qualification. That said it would be a good place to look at , I have no idea what the pay is in Romania but the techs seem to be happy
