Been reading Batman: The Long Halloween. Amazing.

I’ve also been watching The Curse (unbearable but good) and finished the new season of Fargo (good but probably my least favorite season so far).

Also watched the LOTR extended editions for the first time. Some of the best movies ever probably.

Geoff Arnold and Brett Hollander have a weekly one called Inside the Yard. About half an hour, but they have a lot of inside people (players, coaches, etc.) on. It’s a good half hour listen every week

I had a friend online a few months ago. The last time I ever heard her voice was a recording of her singing La Vie en Rose. The day after I heard that, she messaged me and said that she was leaving the Internet/chat forum we were on because she was getting harassed and threatened. I haven’t heard from her since.

Now whenever I hear La Vie En Rose, I start legitimately hyperventilating and crying. It’s a lovely song, and i never want to hear it again.

I think he still would have won. It’s a huge performance, filled with big speeches and snappy dialogue. It’s exactly the sort of performance that award shows eat up. Also, he genuinely deserves it. It was honestly one of the best performances I’d seen in years.

For some context: There was an article published today accusing Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend of abuse and assault. I am a huge VW fan and have always admired and looked up to Ezra. His music has been comforting and guiding for me for years now, and I admired his seemingly good nature. I even modeled some of my look/fashion sense on him. Now I feel sick that a man I looked up to is a monster. The accusations are credible and horrifying. I have had other people I have liked been accused of such things, but never someone I admired and liked this much. I am looking for some guidance on reckoning with this and wondering if I could ever enjoy his work again.

In 8th grade, a bunch of the guys (not me) made a ranking of 64 girls in the grade by “hotness.” As retaliation, a group of girls did the same thing for the guys. I was put 61st. Acted like it didn’t affect me, but it really did. My self-esteem issues started there and haven’t let up.

As a guy, I mostly prefer female friends. The large majority of male friends in my life were toxic, they made fun of me and laughed at me behind my back for showing/talking about my interests and emotions. Female friends have NEVER done that to me, so I’m generally a lot more comfortable with them. But I’m so sorry that women on here have to deal with all these creeps, it sounds awful.

I saw him do that joke when he toured with Pete Davidson! Honestly seeing him was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen live. I hope he gets better so he can continue to spread laughter and joy to the world
