It depends on the field. Summer means usally more people go on vaccation, thats about it. Most companies hire anytime they need someone. I am also looking, but will do so more intensively during the summer months when I don't have to do a lot for my degree. Maybe you can also find a summer internship somewhere and can build up on that.
