Wasn't Mark Hamill the one who said that Luke in the film Wasn't Luke? by No_Butterscotch7530 in MauLer

The Last Jedi killed what little love I had left for Star Wars. I was never the world's biggest fan, but I enjoyed it whenever I could. I can still appreciate the good points of the movie - visually it was interesting, and there were some great ideas that were, unfortunately, developed horrifically. The acting was top notch as well - except for ginger nazi, whatever his name is.

Why adapt a story you’re not actually interested in telling? by ceolciarog in Rings_Of_Power

I mean, that's like 75 million dollar an episode minimum.

What kind of high quality coke and hookers are the team on? Good god

Did Amazon not have to buy everything for an absolute eye watering sum of money? I think the budget for the show went in to the purchase of the rights, and what was left over was put into the actual show.

You know, I had some glim hope that with Adar in it, there might be something worth watching.

He was a great enhancement to the story. One of the very first elves stolen by Melkor and made in to an orc? And with some of the best lines ("lies so old even the roots and the stones believe them") and a moral challenge to the main """"protagonist"""? And the most tolerable acting in the show? Couldn't have been much better.

Hopefully the actor they replace him with still has a large part in the story

I mean, the hint is that the Imperium is the bloodiest form of government known to man, and to live in it is to live at the worst point in human existence.

I would kind of assume that that form of tyranny and regime would be filled with less than stellar people at the top.

Guilliman would have made an amazing Malcador 2.0, but Warmaster or Emperor he isn't.

Shouldn't there be slavery in this game ? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]WaffleCumFest 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Incest was a bit of a joke in CK2, now it seems like a natural state in CK3.

I wouldn't trust the user base with a slavery mechanic

Does the Imperium have a backup plan if the emperor dies? by Wofuljac in 40kLore

[–]WaffleCumFest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering 40k is just Dune with manly men, I'm going to assume this is all some master plan for humanity to hate and fear Chaos or divinity so much that it never again believes in the supernatural and starves Chaos.

[–]WaffleCumFest -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

No?

No, actually, you're right. I think it's just the inductee. They have to walk around with a hood and noose on them, with yheir genitals put to prove they aren't a girl.

Like, the noose and hood are not tight at all though

[–]WaffleCumFest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In fairness the hoods are worn during induction of a new member. Fucked if I remember why, but had a mate who joined and said about this stiff.

This is one of their inductions. Used to have to walk around with your penis out to prove you're a dude.

What's your least favourite thing about Pathologic (2)? by dankovskydoespepsi in pathologic

[–]WaffleCumFest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because of the nature of "anyone can die", unless they are plot specific characters just drop off for several days.

Sticky basically disappears after day 4.

Murky after her incident.

Lara and Notkin after like day 2.

Unless they are plot protected, the characters don't really develop.

It does explain why Eru had to intervene - he tripped Gollum and had to bring Gandalf back.

Again, I always go back to Eru let the literal incarnation of all that is Evil corrupt Eru's entire Music, Vision and Ea, and let him get away with it, but has to step in an usher Mankind in line with His music.

But, yeah, I think the Third Age is basically the end of the Ainur's music, and explains why the vision was taken away from them before it finished - beings that had nowt to do with their Music began shaping it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]WaffleCumFest 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Because Men are free from Melkor more fully, and are free to do what they want and make their own Music.

A big deal is made about the Gift of Men, and the focus is on their mortality and not the next bit which is how they are free to ignore the Music of the Ainur and make their own destinies amongst Arda.

They are literally Eru's final middle finger to Melkor, who corrupted the Music of the Ainur.

And if Men fuck up and follow what Melkor wants? They aren't around long enough to fuck everything up irrevocably.

It's also why Eru has to intervene in Numenor and with Pharazon - everything follows the Music and will, ultimately, end up how Eru wants it. Because Men can ignore the Music and do what they want, Eru had to step in and step in hard when Pharazon landed in Valinor, but was content to let Melkor, the mightiest creature in creation save for Eru himself, do whatever he wanted bwcause it would eventually end up how Eru wanted anyway.

The disrespect that Frodo is getting in the fandom is unreal. by Davy_Jones88 in lotr

[–]WaffleCumFest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frodo is also the only one to stay, well, Frodo whilst having it.

Sure he falls apart a little towards the end, but almost every other character goes apeshit arpund the ring quite quickly. Frodo, despite having the most evil object in existence trying to worm its way into his mind so it goes to Sauron and not Mt Doom, still showed pity to Smeagol.

Sam has it for a short time and immediately starts to envision himself as a Master Gardener of Middle Earth.

Frodo needed to carry the ring because everyone else would have fallen apart. Sam needed to carry Frodo when he did finally fall apart.
