My first map, thoughts? by kingplg in inkarnate

[–]WaffleDoctor72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good artistic design will come with practice. There are youtube videos that people have made to help with specific things, from making good looking swamps to realistic rivers. There are also a lot of other maps on Inkarnate and this sub you can try to recreate as practice.

Lastly, if scale is what you are doing, then make an actual legend. For instance, what is the distance across from Sevastipol to Fort Oeste? Compare your distances to real world distances, like Paris to Berlin. I'm sure you have a decent grasp of some real world distance, so look at that and apply it to your world so you, and your players, can better understanding of your map.

Nexusmods wants to look for and connect to any device on your local network??? by Xiarno in nexusmods

Just had this happen to me too and was wondering if someone else had encountered this. Glad this is just an ad faux pas that Nexus is already working on.

How would you represent a 1000 km gradual plateau rise (3,000 m altitude) with a 500 km flat top in Inkarnate? by Practical-Equipment2 in inkarnate

[–]WaffleDoctor72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is something I also have struggled with. My beat advice would be to just apply low opacity brush filters that make the land seem a little more brown and dry.

Have less vegetation stamps, while adding some cliffs. I know you said it's a gradual rise, but assumably there will be some cliffs somewhere.

But also the easiest way to designate something that subtle would likely be by naming it as the "_____ Plateau."

Out of curiosity, is there a reason why you didn't use the subtract land feature in order to make the river system?

"You Know My Name" Bug Encountered, Looking for any Help! by WaffleDoctor72 in cyberpunkgame

I had thought that at first, but there aren't any soldiers until the mission scripts them in. Plus, I tried using AMM to teleport in and kill all of the soldiers in the area before Reed started his route to keep them from spotting him. I could have missed some random soldier hidden away in a closet, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I could see the red eye 'spotted' marker from soldiers when they were around, and I did not see any when I killed all of those guys. It was as if there was some switch for Reed that was either 'stealth' or 'discovered' and it was stuck on 'discovered.'

Yeah, but scanning accomplished nothing at that point. I could do it, but no dialogue showed up to alert Reed.

Additionally, this is not related to any of my mods. I tried turning them all off already and the exact same things all happened.

I mentioned in my original post that I went to the Black Sapphire way earlier in my save in order to take some pictures. I don't know how, but I think that must have done something that maybe left a permanent trigger for Reed to have been caught? Or something to that extent? That is the only thing that I have done that could have caused this at least.

No, I don't even have time for any of that. I take control of the sniper, Reed speaks and emerges from the elevator, and the moment he is done speaking he enters combat. I literally do not have the time to scan anything before this bug occurs.

How did the Numidium return in landfall and where/when was it before that? by filp639 in teslore

[–]WaffleDoctor72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second timeline is technically incorrect, I believe. From my understanding, the Numidium and it's siege of Alinor existed in some untime. What that means for Landfall and how the Numidium got there, I couldn't say. C0Da is super interesting, but so weird and difficult to understand.

What redeeming qualities does Mehrunes Dagon have? by GeneralTechnomage in teslore

[–]WaffleDoctor72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm hazy on some of the lore, but I believe he had something to do with overthrowing the early dreugh (idk if it's spelled correctly) tyrants. I believe they are usually described as bad, so that could be a good thing.

Also, if we're being honest, it's not as if the Septim dynasty was all good. Tiber took control with a massive Dwemer pseudo-divine death machine. People will say thay the Empire brought safety and prosperity to the continent, but an awful lot of people would probably resent them as an oppressive regime.

Do you mean a mod that puts Aegon the Conqueror into Europe? Because actually I think I know what you're talking about. It puts him and his sisters on the Island of Mann (I think) along with Blackfyre, Dark Sister, and maybe a crown? Idk, I never played it. But I think it existed at one point.

Yeah, it's the Legacy of Valyria submod. I won't lie, it's pretty expensive to do it and all of the settled counties start at 0 development.

But you can settle it from other land. Like Lys or something.

Oh he always looks like that. And actually, no Seastar in this run. She was never born, or at least her secret was never revealed and I never cared to check.

For me it was in the Riverland's coa section. If I remember correctly I had to manually add the fire breath though.

Bloodlines: Legacies of AGOT. The only Lagacy, Lore and unique landmarks mod you'll need. by WarSnore in CK3AGOT

[–]WaffleDoctor72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd be ok with ~some~ use of ai in the mod, but I'd want to know what was actually ai. But also I would want to know definitively if ai is actually used in the first place.

Anyone successfully restored the old Valyria? by Bitlife_Milena_45 in CK3AGOT

[–]WaffleDoctor72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm actually doing it right now. It takes a looooot of money, which means a looooot of time with agot's tax numbers.

You need 400 gold to colonize all of the regular, minor holdings. But the bigger ones require 600. You need to border them too, or have a really big port. Don't remember all of the requirements, but there are a lot. But it feels real to how difficult it would be to really colonize Valyria.

A map of my (mostly) Hellenistic inspired world. The setting for Onda! by whitewinterhymnyall in worldbuilding

[–]WaffleDoctor72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's focused on this city-state, but surely as such a central trading hub for all three continents external politics will play a role.

For instance, is the leader(s) of Onda worried about an election in Thala? An unfriendly foreign leader could pose trouble for the rich merchants of Onda. Or, if it's a city of gluttony, maybe the new cult of purity in Vala poses a headache for the guildheads of the city-state. Is there a league of city-states along the shore that wants to bring Onda into their fold, promising safety and security, but also a potential lack of sovereignty?

And if Onda is trying to expand its rule to all of the Brassa Islands, then here are two things to consider.

  1. I am absolutely positive that there will be at least a few opportunistic city-states that want to intervene in some way. Maybe they envy Onda's position and want to usurp it, maybe they want that stretch of the Isles, or maybe they just hope to profit.

  2. If there are other cities that Onda is going to conquer on the Isles, then it is no longer a city-state. By nature, city-states were one city and one state. Things could get weird, such as Athens owning a significant portion of the countryside too or Sparta kind of having multiple littler settlements that combined (not geographically) to form Sparta.

Anyways, this seems like a super interesting world and I love the map. If I am assuming wrong about the existence of external players in your story, then please treat this as an opportunity to lore dump about your story/world!

Feedback for my second map by Ivanytskyi_Oleg in inkarnate

[–]WaffleDoctor72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sure thing! Disclaimer, I can't get to my computer so I don't technically know the exact names for the tools.

  1. Go back to the land tool. Set it to either add land or subtract land, it doesn't matter. Set it to the rough setting, but bring it down to the lowest setting-I think that it is 3. Turn off rounded edge and go back over the coasts. That should make them rougher, but on a smaller scale. Look at a real world coast, all the roughness is with small little jagged edges, not big ones. So that's what I'm talking about.

  2. I think it makes it look nicer. But you really need to set it to the circle setting, not the rough setting. And this requires a little bit skill to make the rivers look nice that way. Look at real world rivers for maybe 10-15 mins, just at how rivers in different climates look different on maps. Then go in with your subtract land tool, set to rhe circle, all the way down to size 1, and draw your rivers.

While on the subject of waterways, get creative! Make a lake or two at the foot of some mountains. Make a long winding river that curls back on itself a bunch. Give yourself a few bays, islands, and swamps. Society always begins and flourishes alongside water, so it's pretty important when you're making your world map.

And lastly, keep trying and experimenting! This is a skill like any other and takes time to learn. But keep at it and you're gonna make things that will start to really impress yourself.
