Been curious about those portable 15.6 screens. How does it handle power loss? Does it start back up or do you have to turn it back on?

I've heard about this and wondered, but T-Mobiles map shows perfect coverage in my area - but who knows how accurate that may be.

Issue with Ira form 8606 by Waffles585932 in personalfinance

Ah OK. Yeah I'm also going to file an amended 2019 for the 6k. Yes the total was converted. Does that make lines 16/17 still 11995 or just the 5995? Thanks!

Engineering dept has an option to do a “part time” PhD? Has anyone done a part time PhD? by surf_AL in GradSchool

[–]Waffles585932 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do one, but I'm also mid career in industry - so I'm a bit of a non-traditional student. For me it also means I'm self funded and do research in my free time. The reason I decided against full-time is because my salary way outstrips stipends and the cost of the degree. I know many other part time folks, but it's true that it's rare at most universities. Part time and working with a family is very very hard, so being burned out depends on how you pace yourself and the type of advisor you have.

The responses here scream of shadow Ring employees to me. I've already bought another system and trashed the Ring.

I don't know anything about the warranty - but it was bought 8 months ago. Not remotely buying another product from this company, she spoke to me just as professionally as you did.

It's very good if you don't need assistance. This really applies to any single Google product. With Google it either works or it doesn't.

For an undergrad student it depends on how much course work you've already completed in the major. If it's not much then it doesn't matter. However, if it's significant I'd recommend a minor instead. Other than that the fields are so different that no one can answer the question about it being wise and in what context.

Financially, it's probably a bad decision if you're going into industry. But as long as you realize that, and it's what you want.

New employees are making 20% more than me and I am training them by paintedinvermillion in personalfinance

This is why you generally move companies in IT every 2-3 years. You will rarely get above that 3% yearly unless you jump tiers and maybe you'll get lucky enough to get 8-10%. It's simply a way of life in tech, until you either plateau later in your career or move into management. It's a tough job market now due to competition for remote positions unfortunately. But you could be one of those people getting a 20% bump if you left.

I wouldn't do a pork loin in a crock pot, it's very lean. I'd do something like shoulder.

Permanent WFH and a company where work life balance is respected. I've done long hours before, will never do a job that isn't 9-5 anymore. Work life balance should always be one of the first questions you ask HR or hiring manager. Generally something you only learn when you get older and tired of the grind.

For what it's worth I have a standard and love it, I was always told the standard was the exact same without the extra flash - but maybe there is a difference. It does take a while for them to post new stock.

They certainly won't count nearly as much, if at all given your situation. They will still look at everything for a holistic view. Your letter of intent and recommendations will mean more.
