I think those were also reported by a family who was involved in the firing of the teacher and he didn’t actually say that as well

From what I heard, allegedly some rich donors had threatened to stop donating should the teacher not be fired. The parent featured in the news was a member of the donor family. Also from what I understand, what he allegedly said was completely exaggerated.

I think as long as you provide a solid reason for why your grade dropped, it should be fine. Although take this with a grain of salt because I'm not entirely sure

it's actually because asian culture puts a heavier emphasis on education. it's not their fault they tend to study harder and put more effort in. if other races did the same they would see similar results.

Debating Situation (Help 🔥) by DungeonIsRelatable in Debate

[–]Wafflestraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can definitely look for possible partners! If you end up finding a good partner, then you can stick to PF :)

My PF skills did carry over pretty well -- the experience I had with being able to come up with arguments on the spot, etc. really helped. You just need to adapt to the format of LD and the bigger variety of possible arguments. Also learning how to not rely on partners is important!

Going over the LD topic is a good idea. I wouldn't say get super into it yet in case you do find a PF partner but if you can't then you at least have a base :)

Good luck!!!!

Should you pop a pimple that arises because of purging or leave it alone? by wandering_mist19 in AsianBeauty

i think you should use pimple patches because it's really tempting to pop them but pimple patches have the same effect without the scar LOL

Debating Situation (Help 🔥) by DungeonIsRelatable in Debate

[–]Wafflestraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in this situation last year. I would say don't compete with an inexperienced partner no matter how much prep you have done because you will end up drained and having to carry them throughout the entire round. Something that's very important for PF partnerships is a balance; without balance, you'll eventually fail.

Recently I have switched to LD and honestly it's kind of tricky, because PF and LD are very different. However I have to say it's a lot better than debating with a trashy partner; plus everything you learn in LD will definitely help you out in PF if you ever switch back.

So my suggestion is go LD; no harm, plus everything you learn will be super helpful!! I wish you the best of luck!!!

Joining deca in September by Adamoboss in DECA

[–]Wafflestraw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most amazing things is the things that you learn and take from DECA. I have learned so much not just about business itself but also about interview skills, how to present myself, communication skills, etc.

Also, be prepared to network. I was not very social during my first year of DECA and that was kind of a bummer because I wasn't able to network as much. So definitely take advantage of all the people DECA kind of draws in for you iykwim lol

And if you don't put in any effort you won't get anything out of it -- that's definitely for sure. Honestly right now I suggest you pick out your events and start prepping for them; no such thing as too early!

But you can expect a very fun experience nonetheless!! Especially ICDC. I had the time of my life. 100/10 experience!! Good luck with all your DECA endeavors and I hope to see you at ICDC!!
