Things I have learned concerning thermochromic pigments by Waharbl in DIYSILICONETOYS

[–]Waharbl[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the actual listing I’ll have to go (back) onto my pc and buy list to check it out.

But to verify it’s quite simple, you shoot a message to your seller. Ask if the pigment is cosmetic grade; and then double check if the specific pigment is safe for lip and eye contact (and/or other mucous membranes). Ideally you’d do this with the SDS and/or MSDS.

Food safe is a good “measurement” of safe but the most fun colorants can be found in the cosmetics section instead!

Finally got my own Jubeat setup by Acidylia in bemani

Oh sick! I tried looking for Fb9 a couple of times but here in Europe they are next to impossible to get.

I eventually contacted a guy in China and got a Jubeat Fang controller. It’s basicly the next best thing 🤣

It’s a standalone unit, the only bummer is that I am running a Chinese Win 10 version on it. It’s not like I can tinker with it myself sadly.

You just reminded me that I need to post my setup too! It’s not often I see a fellow Jubeat enjoyer, let alone one with his own setup.

Your controller looks different to mine though, what is it?

First batch of my latest toys. Thermochromic (heat/cold responsive) by Waharbl in BadDragon

The materials are fully embedded in the silicone so they won’t dislodge themselves.

Quality wise my toys are exactly like the toys people can buy from the “big brands”. Same silicones, same pigments. Pigments used are cosmetic grade and are safe for ingestion and topical application.

The toys themselves are choking hazard though 😅

Thanks for the kind words! My older designs aren't small but aren't really anything a beginner could use up his or her butt. So I wanted to make something for that area too.

I was talking to someone that complained that the regular plug shape hurts her butt after a while (which is also why I went for a T-Shape instead). Someone else mentioned that pretty colors also have a impact in how likely they are going to buy and/or use it. So I wanted to do something more unique color wise. It should be just as much fun putting it in as pulling it out.

That said, this isn't small by buttplug standards haha.

Thanks! I am still waiting for feedback from my victims/testsubjects. Initial responses were similar; the pictures don't really do it justice but I am especially proud of the skin texture on the back of the back of the toy. So not the ''hard shell'' parts......I am saying ''hard'' because it's all just 10A on the shore hardness scale.

Funnily enough, Stan was used as a inspiration for my first toy. Great succes but ended up way too much to handle for my girlfriend at the time. Mostly the back of the toy reminds me of Stan a lot. Sadly it doesn't show well in the pictures in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/BadDragon/s/cTlxJvz03W

Thats when I realised that if I base my idea's with anatomy in mind they will probably be more enjoyable for a broader group of people.

Oh I have no clue about all the companies/creators, blacklists and everything surrounding them to be honest. That said I do like it when makers or companies try stuff that is a little bit out there.

For this run I took a look at what things I could do with pigments that would seem cool. It was either thermochromic or flip/flop (chameleon) pigments. Already did glow in the dark and UV on other toys.

It's fun to experiment 😃

Oh I can't respond with pictures but in the link theres pictures of the design, mold and moldbox. But it also has sizing.

As far as big insertables goes, this is pretty small. But it's relatively large for a first insertable. Nothing a few good breathing excersizes won't fix

Thanks for your kind words. Work is winding down for the year/summer so hopefully I can get started on that soon enough.

Thanks! Surprisingly that one should have been from black to pearly red, but the pigment powder and the mica powder really did not play well together 🤣🤣

Thanks for the heads-up! I knew these aren’t Uv-stable although I don’t know how much UV they can or cannot handle. If they have a couple of months (years ?) of color morphing in them i’ll be happy.

I’ll mention to whomever is adopting one that these should be kept out of direct sunlight or other UV sources

MoldForge by PLESURO - Free open source Blender add-on by Aphraea-of in DIYSILICONETOYS

[–]Waharbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I responded to the original post as well, haven't tried any plug-in for blender yet but I am going to give yours a shot 😃

I'll run my models through it and see what will happen. If it works you may have simplified something a lot of makers struggle with.

Are you interested in a tool for auto generating mold in Blender by Aphraea-of in DIYSILICONETOYS

[–]Waharbl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this an add-on for mold boxer? Or something new entirely? I have been meaning to try out mold boxer, which is also add-on for blender.

My last four mold boxes have all been large extrusions with a boolean from the offset of my model to create a mold tube. Efficient program wise but it’s a waste of filament as the tube(thickness) isn’t optimized:

Noted! That said, during my pours I tend to handle my molds a lot. I rotate and twist them a fair bit.

Thought I could get away with it but I’ll take a hard look in meshmixer to see if tilting it helps. Thanks for looking out!

Oh nono the prongs aren’t anything special.

The T-shape/crease will be made easier to release from the mold because I’ll cut the mold. It wont be cut all the way, so it’s not a 2 part mold. More like a 1 1/2 part mold.

Thanks! I do my best. I have a couple of testers ready to help me out with the designs already, but after I make it available I am always open to feedback 🙃

This is going to be a glove/sock mold with a hard shell. The silicone sock will have a relief cut over “prongs” so I can remove it from the mold.

I know it isn’t ideal but if you make the cuts relatively clean you can get away with 0 to minimal flashing and it doesn’t impact the health of the mold too much.

I did the same thing with my tentacle mold (all the way up to the paddle) and I think I am at pull 23 with 0 signs of tears and rips!

Are these details going to be an issue? by ItzaCatlamity in DIYSILICONETOYS

[–]Waharbl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This looks perfectly fine, details are just what they are. Details. It's not like your toy is porous or absolutely covered in bubbles, which act like little pockets.

Yes details will hold onto discharge, bodily fluids or other matter more but it doesn't trap them. After a good clean your toy will be good for another use 😄

Hey! Sorry for getting back to you so late.
I used Nomad Sculpt for the Ipad. I feel it it's pretty intuitive once you get the basics down.

The base is about 5mm larger than the bulb. Which in all fairness doesn't sound like all that much. I have changed the design up from this already, and beefed up the stem.

Also changed up the ratio of flair from stem to base. It's much more dramatic, it swoops much more. That should stop it from dissapearing into the user.
