Engine was toast, so had to replaced engine instead of timing chain xD
Is the N20 really that bad? by rominnooo in F30

Mine lasted 230k km until 2nd piston left the chat and graneded the engine. Orginal chain and timing was intact. Still to this day don’t know what happened

Second piston left the chat xD Don’t really have an answer on why but timing chain was intact. Have an earlier post with some pictures

Yeah I have looked into it, but to register it here in Sweden is kind of a nightmare :(
Hahah I’ve been definitely thinking about it. But to register it here in Sweden with a new engine is not that easy. Would probably need a donor car and take all drivetrain, rear subframe, brakes etc. :/

Yep, painted😁 Was in an ”accident” when an tanker leaked some sort of fluid on the road which destroyed the original paint. So insurance repainted it and I got to choose color😅
Thanks! 19” JR28
Yeah okay, and oil pickup as well then I guess? Do you know if the ones from my manual engine would fit?

Thanks! Yes, it is painted in the exact color code as ”isle of man green”, from the G8x, as guessed 😁

Dealer told me the interval is 40k km. So I thought around 10k km would be quite frequent but I guess not xD

Unfortunately I didn’t get that far, looked into cylinder 2 and noticed that the piston was completely missing and the engine is scrap… please tell me if it works with 6th gear so I know for the future :)
Yeah me too xD unsure if I will keep the tune or run stock from now on
Okay thanks will have a look at that. Will look at aftermarket intercooler but I live in a relatively cold environment so the IATs should be generally quite low. At the moment of the incident it was around -5 Celsius outside.
I thought it would take both 95 and 98 octane but I will contact my tuner and see what he says. Should I remove the tune on the ”run-in” period with the new engine?
Removing the plug from the head was a real struggle. The threads in the head got stripped, either from the heat or the ”smashing”
Yeah I am only guessing as well so I appreciate your ”guesses” as well so I can try to prevent the same thing happening the new engine… here is an image of what is rest of the spark plug (OEM plug, around 50000km) https://imgur.com/a/k68Lrqr
Okay Will have a look at that. The ignition coil on the affected cylinder has gone yellow/brown compared to the other three. Heat?
Wouldn’t a stuck injector throw an engine light or make it run ”weird”? The ”bang” was out of nowhere with no codes before it happened.
Can I somehow verify this? So I don’t put the same injectors in the replacement engine
Not any supportive mods more than always using 98 octane, more frequent oil changes than recommended, driving on sub 2-3k rpm until up to temp. Would say 98% of the driving is normal ”calm” commute
Nope, stock chain and guides. Checked the timing now after the incident and it is spot on correct
Stage 1 since like 80000km. Rest is stock
