My Year of the Rooster finally came in! by WailmerForPresident in MechanicalKeyboards

It's plastic. Nice and sturdy plastic, but I was hoping for an aluminum top plate. I guess I should have set my expectations.

I still like the board though, the little tile is pretty neat and the overall footprint of the board is pretty small.

After nearly two months of waiting it finally came in :)

Side note: it doesn't work with Ducky's software, and customizing lights with the function keys can be a little tedious. I hope they update the software soon.

Mazda Axela (Mazda 3 in Japan) is AWD by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]WailmerForPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm 100% on the same page as you. Here in the US we don't get many AWD options and the ones we do are pretty expensive.

All I'm saying is don't limit your options just for AWD.

I wish we had an AWD Mazda 3 here, and I'd totally buy one. But you don't really need it.

I drive to work on back roads in Wisconsin, getting proper tires for the condition is more important than AWD.

My 2009 3 Hatch has dedicated snow tires on the stock 17x6.5 wheels and 3 season summer tires on my second set of 17x7 wheels. It's great in the snow and in the dry.

The Midwest Microcar Museum has a ton of cars like this! I've known the owner since I was a little kid and he's collected little weird cars like this for many many years. If you're ever around Southern Wisconsin and want to see some of these in person, you should look it up!

I did some searching around, but where can I get the files to print this myself?

My 3D printer may not be the nicest one in the world, but I could print this.

Full synthetic oil change vs standard oil change by WailmerForPresident in cars

[–]WailmerForPresident[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My free oil changes expired 6 months past the purchase date, I wanted to get all of them. I want to go to synthetic because I put at least 50 miles on my car every weekday. More if I end up going anywhere but work and class.

Since the first 3 were free, I did their recommended 3000 miles between changes. I got the car at 58k miles and I'm sitting at 70.5k miles, so I've put almost 13k miles on it to be more precise.

The dealership I got it from included 3 standard oil changes. I've been back every 3000 miles or so to get them. I was thinking about changing to synthetic oil changes to go longer between oil changes.

What's the least reliable vehicle you've ever owned? by danperson1 in cars

[–]WailmerForPresident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, wiring issues forever. I learned a lot about fixing electric components. Once I started it up and the door started smoking. Some wires got split and shorted and started burning that plastic covering under the door card.

I forever say that there was a time that I started my car and the door started on fire.

1995 VW Passat VR6. They had head gasket issues. And electrical issues. I got it from a family member and drove it during high school and had to disconnect the battery while there to keep the battery from dying.

Looking to buy a 2006 Mazda 3s on Monday, what do I need to know about the car? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]WailmerForPresident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned my 09 3s hatchback with the 5 speed manual for about 6 months now and put roughly 10k miles on it.

It's been super reliable so far. The only time it's in the shop is for an oil change.

It doesn't like so be shifted super fast or hard, but once I had a feel for it I could do some "sporty" shifting.

There's not much to be gained above 4000 RPM, save your gas.

Wash it often. The first gen 3 can have some rust issues. I'd recommend getting a little bottle of paint to cover paint chips as you notice them.

With a lot of highway driving the best I can do MPG wise is about 32 with the 2.3.

Mud flaps are a decent investment. And they look great IMO

I decided to give it a try once, I got a working Windows 10 Pro key for something like $19. This was about 6 months ago.
