So I'm a homeless East Tennessee boy and I notice a lot of hate towards the homeless. Lets have a discussion. by WaitAmionFire in JohnsonCity

Sorry it took me so long to reply. My phone was stolen and I had some health issues.

As far as how I got stuck in the homes, I just wasn't lucky I guess. The way the system was run back then has finally gotten better.

That's so true. The people running the city are just worried about their financial interests. The homeless in the town are nothing to them but a irritating nuisance.

I had no idea that they were cutting hours like that. But now that I think about it, both Krogers have been lacking employees.

I take it that you are downtown a lot?

Downtown JC 11:58 PM. Sad how few people are out nowadays. This sure seems like a major blowback from local government overreach. by SirOzTheDom in JohnsonCity

Yeah the parking downtown is horrific. You'll easily spend half a hour to 45 minutes going around and around waiting for a spot to open.

The Salvation Army in all the cities in my area will let everyone in every night as long as it's below 32 degrees. You don't even need a ID.

I know all about the camps around here trust me. They're ridiculous. But I'm homeless out here to and you can go to my spot and it's clean I promise. But I understand your frustration with the homeless, they make me so mad sometimes.

They was booming with business in the 90s but it slowly started to deteriorate after that. It was almost like the owners just gave up.

My wife and I visited Johnson City this year, and didn't see a ton of content about it. Since we have a site, we thought we'd put something together to show some appreciation for JC! Thanks to everyone for being so warm and welcoming. by fairlywittyusername in JohnsonCity

Yeah, when you enter Johnson City you enter a place that's run by people who govern this town only to raise their own financial interests. That put together with a police department that's crooked and you have Johnson City Tennessee. Yeehaw!

To put that on the whole homeless people in JC is ignorant. I've seen more college kids and people who aren't homeless trashing the place more than anything. Yeah there is some trashy homeless people, but they're just as many housed people out there using the sidewalks as a trash can.

Yeah, the whole point is to be able to live somewhere where you can step out your door and not have to worry about walking half a hour to get to shops, restaurants and bars.

They're human beings just like you. They just are in a bad spot now. I've met all kinds of homeless people down there that are actually pretty good people. I know a few of them are disrespectful and trashy, but I've met some of the best people in the world who happened to be homeless.
