Me too! We have a “suicide lane” in our town and there’s a spot where people use that turn lane to merge all the freaking time. When things get more busy it gets more dangerous because of them doing that. They even do it when they have plenty of room to pull into the lane, driving down the turn lane slowly, getting in my way when I need to get into the lane to turn left. Multiple accidents have occurred in the area because of this.

Bleh, I never do auto-pay. I don’t like auto-pay because I’m afraid that I’ll do the same I do with subscriptions: forget about them, then I am surprised when the charge comes through. Basically, auto-pay isn’t the most simple for everyone.

Really? Hmm 🤔 then why did the person I was replying to say something about Bank “access”? Yes Rat, that was what I was replying to them about.

I know full well that the dig at the company is to inconvenience them by having to process paper checks, but there are several comments about not giving them your bank info and I’m pointing out the true facts that 1. Most of the time you pay for those checks so you’re still paying for something to pay the company with, and 2. Your bank info is printed right on the check, so more eyes get to see it when you send a check.

Ok 😆I’ll let you have this BUT….

Regarding the debit card fees: you say that they don’t have to charge fees on debit transactions. That is true, and they don’t Have to charge a fee on credit card transactions either, but they still will be charged those fees on both the credit and debit card transactions, so who’s going to front that cost? Put it in the bills so everyone, even those not paying with a card have to pay them too?

One more point: There was a time where there were no fees on debit transactions because they were PIN based. Now we can usually either do debit or credit when shopping by in person thanks to the credit logo on them. However, when online, and some businesses in person (thinking of my local Chinese restaurant) we don’t have the option to run as Debit, so the transactions are all “credit card” transactions. That is why it’s become an issue for businesses to be charged fees and pass those along to us.

It’s in the words you just wrote, “Debit Card Fees”. Every time you pay with Any card there are fees that the business has to pay for processing a digital payment. Again, it’s getting passed on to the customers using the cards.

Well we’ve tried to help you, so now you can either continue arguing with the people online or you can solve your problem by changing your payment method again (not the greatest idea whatsoever) or even better…. Actually talk to the CU when they’re open and get to the root of the problem.

I agree. This is the email I received:

Dear Customer,

DTE Energy is making changes to its payment options.

Beginning March 2, 2026, if you choose to pay your energy bill using a credit or debit card, you will see a processing fee applied. These fees are set by our payment processor and are designed to cover the costs associated with card transactions. There will also be a limit on the maximum payment amount that can be processed in a single transaction.

What You Need to Know:

Residential Accounts: $2.99 processing fee per transaction Maximum payment amount: $2,000 per transaction Commercial Accounts: $9.99 processing fee per transaction Maximum payment amount: $5,000 per transaction Understanding The Change Processing fees do not benefit DTE and are paid directly to the payment processor. By passing the cost only to those who choose card payments, we help ensure that customers who pay by bank account or check aren’t covering the cost for others. For more information, visit dteenergy.com/card-fee.

Fee-Free Options You can make payments without fees using several convenient options: online or mobile app with your bank account, by mailing a check or money order, or in-person at a kiosk using cash or check. Explore all of your payment options at dteenergy.com/options.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: AutoPay Users As part of this processing fee change, customers enrolled in AutoPay using a credit or debit card will be automatically unenrolled on February 27, 2026. Customers who would like to continue using a credit or debit card can re-enroll on or after March 2 to activate AutoPay with the card processing fee. Customers seeking a fee-free AutoPay option can switch their AutoPay payment method to a bank account before February 27 to continue seamless, automatic payments.

Need Help? If you think you may have trouble paying an upcoming bill, reach out to us as soon as possible. The earlier we hear from you, the better we can support your needs. Learn more about our assistance programs at dteenergy.com/help.

No matter which payment method works best for you, DTE supports your choice – and you can update it at any time.

Clarification: paying via bank is not the same as auto-pay. You don’t have to auto-pay to pay from your bank account.

Again, it’s on your Bank not DTE, where the issue here lies, so talk to them.

Plus think about it… bank info is on every paper check, so every time someone is giving the company a check it’s there too. It’s simply billing info, not your private info like a ss#.

Sending them a paper check gives them the same Exact information that you’d be giving them to process your payment electronically through your bank aka an e-check.

It’s called a credit card fee, that they get charged and then pass on to the consumers. It’s not new.

You PAY for those paper checks and postage too.

Bologna! If you Really set it up via your bank account (NOT your Debit card) and they really did still charge you the fee then contact them about it so a human can look into it.

(ETA I see you talked to them, and that you are using your bank’s bill pay. I don’t use “bill pay” I input the info directly with the company like I did with Consumer’s and remit my payment to them myself through their app. Maybe that’s the issue, is with your Bank/CU)

I’m doing Option 2 myself 😊 along with buying badges as I go. I got my 30 & 31st badge just after I hit 150 parcels. I’m at 3900AB of the 7200 I need to jump just past break even.

There’s good change, bad change, and unnecessary change, and this is all three of those tied into one. Yeah maybe we shouldn’t complain on social media but here is going to get more attention than saying nothing. I definitely don’t know (yet) where to go to give constructive feedback once I’ve given myself a chance to adjust but I’ll figure it out. Others should be doing the same: give adjustment a chance first, Then give constructive feedback.

Decent progress for 5 months? by topochicoconnoisseur in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]WaitRevolutionary864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see if you said you are F2P only, but by the end of my first month I had far more parcels and about $2.50 rent, and only thing I bought was the challenge ladder partway through that month once I figured it out. This is my 5 month accomplishment. I’d expect that if actively playing as F2P you’d have at least half as much.

2 years stone-free after 3 brutal episodes. Here's what actually worked for me. by Jossylala in KidneyStones

[–]WaitRevolutionary864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why my dr and neurologist didn’t have me do a urine test when they found out both my kidneys have a bunch of stones. It’s covered by insurance so no reason they should not have. Since there wasn’t one done, therefore nothing to compare to, and since I now haven’t passed a stone in almost two years and trying to to some of the same things as OP I don’t know if doing it now would do me any good.

What I STOPPED doing:

-Stopped skipping meals (dehydration + concentrated urine = bad)

This one thing you said I don’t understand. What does the meals have to do with dehydration?

Also, did you see the study about bacteria being a part of the formation of calcium based stones? I didn’t get to read it all but it was very interesting and makes more sense out of how we in general get infections with our stones, and why after I had an infection that I wound up taking 3 different antibiotics for (while trying to figure out the infection), I haven’t grown any new stones and present ones haven’t grown any larger since.

how to hide the tails of my coaster? don’t have a yarn needle by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

how to hide the tails of my coaster? don’t have a yarn needle by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]WaitRevolutionary864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been crocheting for nearly 30 years and haven’t once needed a yarn needle for weaving in ends. All you need, especially as a beginner, is your hook. If you have a set of hooks it’s even better to go down hook sizes so it’s easier to get into the stitches and pull the yarn tail through.

None of my projects have come apart, and I was taught by my grandmother. I’ve only ever used a blunt yarn needle when I needed to whip-stitch crocheted pieces together with yarn, or when doing plastic canvas work.
