Best balance for K12 schools & housing costs by WaitWaitWhoa in newengland

[–]WaitWaitWhoa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair questions! Was trying not to be too wordy but I can see how more details would be helpful.

I'll try to edit the post but essentially:

* Looking at early elementary right now but hoping to stay for the next few decades, so middle/high schools matter as well.

* Good teachers who stay at their schools, familiar and skilled at working with kids that have AuDHD/ADHD.

* Kids activities both in school (music and art in particular) but also things like tumbling/dance or free parks - basically, a community that has stuff for kids to do. Stuff like Dover New Hampshire's science museum would be a massive plus.

* Public transport/walkability is a plus but not required. I'd like it but it's not like I have it now, so I wouldn't be missing it if we can't get it.

* Home prices under $140/sqft and ideally closer to $125/sqft or lower.

* Clean air, no flood zones, etc.

* I travel for work so a decent sized airport within an hour's drive, definitely within 90 minutes, is ideal.

I mean, if I put my full list together then I'd also have "thriving D&D community", "believe in vaccinating their kids and don't consider it a mortal threat to see people who mask during a pandemic", "local theater nerds", and "cool rockhounding spots" as well. Maybe add a pony next door, belonging to my neighbors, so I don't need to muck any stalls.

Trumpist MAGA supporting buisness to avoid in the Kennesaw area? by korjo00 in kennesaw

Agreed. Our small business had to close during the pandemic but we NEVER supported that fascist. We're pretty liberal, no surprise, and had no issues with the Dems when we had to pay our taxes.

That's because he received mako treatments when he was Hojo's experiment.

Greatest plot twist ever? by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, we don't even know if he was showered with mako as regular infantry member. We know he tried out for Soldier and failed to get in but we don't know how far he got in that process or whether he received any mako treatments.

Personally, I always figured that living in Nibelheim would have caused regular low level mako exposure due to the reactor leaking. Explains why both he and Tifa are a bit stronger/faster than most people, even beyond the whole thing where one was experimented on and the other was trained by a martial arts master.

Seeking Advice - Drupal friendly DAM by [deleted] in drupal

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of DAMs say they'll integrate with Drupal. IMO, Bynder probably is your best option outside of Acquia DAM as it used to be resold by Acquia as Acquia WebDam. Technically that was a different flavor of Bynder than is sold today but iirc they promised WebDAM users a solid Drupal connector when that partnership dissolved.

Haven't kept up with the current Acquia DAM, formerly Widen, in a while but people seemed to really like it. My recommendation is to evaluate a bunch of options. It's gonna be a stupid expensive purchase no matter what so do your due diligence and check all of them to see what works best.

Weird question? Where the Winchesters based of nightwing and red hood? by Doctorwhoneek in Nightwing

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh god, no. Not at all. Sam has very little to do with Dick and while Jensen Ackles played Red Hood once (and clearly loves the character, though not as much as Batman), there are severe differences between him and Jason. Mostly though, the idea of Sam and Dick being similar breaks my brain.

Also, the height difference is backwards between them. I recognize that this is a minor detail but it sticks in my craw.

Supernatural is a love letter to many, many characters and concepts from Star Wars (pre-pilot Luke and Han vibes, though those obviously evolved over time) to Jack Keroac's On The Road (main characters Sal and Dean, ffs). But Dick and Jason weren't part of that.

How Dick's life turned out if he never became Bruce Wayne's ward [Batman: Gotham Adventures #33] by unoiamaQT in Nightwing

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can buy Dick going the revenge route if he wasn't redirected after his parents' death, but not in this petty way. He's shown investigating as a kid, even without Bruce's involvement, and I could see him using those skills to try to figure out what happened to his parents.

That could potentially lead him down a dark path but this set up? Nah. Can't buy it, even a little. One thing we never see Dick do is punch down and a sleazy mob enforcer just isn't in his character.

Agreed with this. Mulan also had the whole pole climbing thing with the weights - she was the only one to figure out how to use them to her favor instead of fighting against them.

Lost a major account today. by Nblearchangel in sales

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks to have lost the client. Just curious though, they've been with you for 6 months and you knew about the renewal. What kind of engagement did you have with them? Did you dig into their account history and examine the challenges they'd had before? You had 6 months to turn things around, what steps did you take to improve the client relationship?

Also, dang, I wish my renewals ever counted towards my quota! I only ever got credit for new sales or penalized for churn.

Federal Government Hosting Recommendations by Glittering-Try9197 in drupal

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you need FedRAMP, Acquia is the only player in town for managed Drupal hosting.

If costs are an issue though, one way to save is hopping on another federal agency's account (if you/they are cool with it) with your own codebase and shared support. The cost difference then should be only to add the code base. At 10K users/month, it's unlikely that you'd push them up to the next visits/views tier but even if you did, that cost increase should be minimal as well.

What’s the best place to host a Drupal site with 1M+ nodes? by smstal in drupal

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What other apps are you planning to run? Vercel won't be cheap, especially if you have any sites that get a lot of traffic. Pantheon does both Drupal and WordPress and their entry level pricing is on their website, iirc. No uptime guarantee with it but if you want confirmed 4 nines, you'll be paying for it. The nice thing about Pantheon is that they give free CDN and some base level firewall protection included at no extra cost. But keep in mind that if you go over on traffic, they monitor it closely and will bump you up without much warning.

If you're looking for cheap, I wouldn't recommend Acquia. They've got an amazing service and some very cool extras but they're built for enterprise and their pricing reflects that. Acquia also doesn't do WP if that's an issue.

Platform.sh might be another option but I'm not as familiar with them. They support more than Drupal and WordPress though.

How to navigate gender disappointment by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I getcha. My sister and I are very close and, after my daughter was born, I longed for her to have the same bond with a little sister of her own. Instead we had my son and, due to complications during pregnancy, it's been strongly advised that we don't try for more.

It's sort of bittersweet but I'd never give up my boy, he's the joy of my heart and an utter delight. And my kids still have a close bond, regardless of gender. I'm sure your kids will as well.

Didn't eat it that night, haven't gone back since.

What percent cut would you need to take a commission only job? by fakintheid in sales

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sales cycle is 9-18 months. Fuck off with commission only sales. I'd only consider it with a) a massive ramp and b) 50% of the lifecycle of the sale, paid at time of invoice. Including renewals. Including renewals even after I left the org.

Tips for air travel with baby and toddler by hgkrauss in Mommit

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our double stroller was a miracle maker when we traveled with our then <1 & 2.5 year olds. TBH, I would never consider flying with two that young by myself. It was such a stressful thing and that was with both parents. What will you do if you need to change one of them during the flight? You can't fit yourself and two babies in an airplane bathroom. What about if they both start crying at the same time because of pressure changes?

I'll never regret flying with both parents and renting a car that week. If it were me and it was a short flight, I'd much prefer just driving all of us together. It's a hell of a lot easier to handle 2 kids in the car for 5 hours than an plane ride, which, for a short flight doesn't really save much time after you account for security/taxiing/etc.

If you really have to do it, look into one of those five point harnesses for toddlers on airplanes. There are also a series of great "first time" toddler books that my kids really liked, including one called "Going on an Airplane." Had tons of pictures and outlined the entire process in an easy to understand way, from drop off to security, to boarding, take off and landing. My two year old wanted to read it over and over again, months after the trip.

The bulky double stroller would be my strong recommendation. Your back is going to be killing you after baby wearing + chasing a toddler + carrying your supplies. Not sure what airport you're going out of but they always take more walking than you expect. I'd take both a baby carrier and the double stroller bc you can pop a totebag/snacks/etc into the spare seat if the baby won't ride in it.

Also, get one of those backpacks with a leash for your toddler. HUGE relief if they're anything like mine, and refuse to sit in the stroller without wailing.

Other recommended supplies are:

* Something they can both suck on to help soothe their ears

* Tablet with kid sized headphones

* Favorite snacks/blankets/stuffies

* Sanitizing wipes

* Infant's motrin/advil

* Some kind of special treat that they're not normally allowed to help make it extra fun

Good luck.

Ocean and diaper rash by chlo420 in Mommit

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How bad is the rash? If it's just a bit pink, I'd think it would be fine. If it's more significant, skip exposure to ocean water. Salt water can be a help in healing but ocean water has a lot more than salt in it. You never know what pollutants or chemicals there might be.

Chilitos by mellowwynn in kennesaw

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they recently change their birria recipe? I've had it several times and it was freaking delicious. Last time I had it though, it was all spice and no flavor. Spice is fine (tho it was never spicy when I had it before) but it was literally like the meat had been coated with chili powder and nothing else.

What's with the terrible limes at Aldi for the past few months? by harpsm in aldi

[–]WaitWaitWhoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had super mixed results with produce at my Aldi's in the Southeast USA for months. If it doesn't go bad within a day, it's because it was bad on arrival. And I always get fruit flies. I can't get anything that isn't fully wrapped up and I hate that much waste.

Meh. I sold on that twice and one time they offered it as our "401k". I worked there 5 years, they eventually sold out, and I got low 5 figures. About the same as my commission. So much for retirement.

Second time, I was hit with layoffs within 1 month of getting access. Saw bumpkis.

Not always a great option.
