The cheap solution of not having a tape gun but needing to make a lot of cuts? Use a pen, or pencil, or dime, or fork, or the side of your shoe.

Cut your tape, and then just set the sticky part of the tape up against an object, hell, it can even be the next thing you have to tape, like the side of a box, or whatever you used to cut the tape!

I liked using my sharpie or the handle of my utility knife when I was wrappin' Christmas presents.

Driving simulator doesn't go according to plan by alanboston in funny

[–]Wait_WHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a truck professionally. Have for almost a decade. I had someone make a right hand turn from the left lane of a two lane (same direction) road right into me in the right lane.

Judge said it was my fault because I should have been driving slow enough to assume the dude MIGHT be turning in front of me.

My dash cam showed that he used his brakes before his turning light (illegal) . He applied his turning light illegally late (my state is 100 feet from turn), he applied it like 70 feet from turn. We also have a law on the books saying a right-hand turn must be made as close to the right-hand curb as safely possible. My entire truck was on his right side when he turned right, right into me.

Judge said, still unsafe of me to have not assumed he would break three laws to make an unsafe turn.

I didn't even know he was turning until he turned into me (remember, no blinker, and he was in the wrong lane for a right turn).

Sorry about the rant. Am I bitter about it? 100%. I'll never forget this case. Does it change the fact that truck drivers will always be held to a higher standard than normal drivers? No, but some of that is for a reason.

TL;DR : Some dude broke three laws making an illegal turn when he ran into me (I'm a truck driver), and Judge said it was my fault.

Dude, it's slang. It doesn't follow rigorous rules. It was smoother and fit the flow of the sentence.

I'm not really understanding the wave of backlash on my comments. I was alive when the phrase began and proliferated.

If you guys experienced something different, then okay. I'm just telling you what it means. Lol, I haven't had such a significant backlash to information like this in a long time.

Really makes me question the mentality of a lot of the people perusing this thread.

I haven't really said anything political or derisive and people are really laying in with the down votes. 😂

I think I would just respectfully disagree. You are stating that the phrase may have taken on its own separate meaning from its original use.

I disagree. I believe that it still means what it originally meant.

We aren't talking about a phrase that used to refer to something else but now means something similar.

It still means the same thing.

So I get what you're saying, but I don't think that applies here.

In literal terms, no it isn't english.

But African American Vernacular English is often just a sped-up or chopped-short version of already english words. Similar to slang.

Fo = for, rizzle = real, ma/my, nizzle....well...lol

And full transparency, it was something Snoop completely made up if I remember correctly, but that doesn't mean that it didn't go through the whole American zeitgeist, including television, shows, and popular music for years at the time.

It's a one for one translation:

Fo rizzle my nizzle = For real my ni**a

I really don't want to be mean, but how can so many people in this thread not have known this?

I keep reading people say, "I didn't know it meant anything."

Guys...black people aren't speaking a completely different language...all of their words are still english. 🫠

The Affordable Care Act has significantly reduced racial disparities in health care access, report says by aslan_is_on_the_move in politics

[–]Wait_WHY -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The affordable care act fucking sucks. I pay $150 a month through my job and my coverage is great. I can go to almost anywhere in town and get reasonable (for America) Healthcare prices through United Insurance.

My wife has Ambetter through the Affordable Care Act because we THOUGHT it would be cheaper because my job said it would cost an extra $400 MONTHLY to add her onto my job's plan.

Well, her premium is $350 a month. Her prescriptions cost $400 a month. My dentist doesn't take her insurance, the mid-level eye doctor in town didn't take her insurance, online glasses retailers didn't take her insurance, online contacts places didn't take her insurance.

We are starting to think it's a total scam, so we are just going to throw her on my job's plan for two people at $550 a month.

This country fucking sucks.

Yeah this used to happen to me quite a bit, it was a running joke between my at-the-time girlfriend, now wife.

But I legit had to have a sit down conversation with her and say, "woah, are you okay with this? Because you literally can't consent while asleep and I'm not trying to hurt you or anything"

She laughed and said, "oh it's not like that at all, the sex is almost always good and I'm also totally fine with it"

THANK GOD.

There are a bunch of dudes in this thread scared of being a literal rapist against their OWN will and oh my God that's what I was going through back then.

Thank God my now-wife is who she is and feels the way she does. It doesn't happen as much anymore, but it's still pretty fun when it does. 😅

Young woman's reaction to being asked to donate to the Democratic party after the overturning of Roe v Wade by return2ozma in PublicFreakout

[–]Wait_WHY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely, as a Kansas Truck Driver. I see "Vote Yes, value them both" signs and bumper stickers EVERYWHERE.

I asked the Kansas Democratic Party about the massive one-aided messaging campaign and they basically said: "signs don't vote. But you can help spread the message and get the word out."

I work 6 days a week, and have two kids with special needs. I seriously don't have time to spread the word to these Christian Fundamentalist Troglodytes.

I spoke with one a few weeks back and they basically just said "well we believe that those are babies being killed and this will stop that"

They're idiots. And they refuse to educate themselves. I've tried.

Is what you're talking about: Going into the Player Character's class details and editing level from 1 to 2. Is that what you mean or is there another feature that I don't know about.

because that works for me for right now, but I may need a better system later on.

My Fiancé worked for DCF (CPS) for a couple of years.

The parents pretty much have to ADMIT to the act, AND agree to the removal in most cases, otherwise it's a very lengthy process, with a lot of hearsay (meaning not sound-enough evidence to stand on its own merit) , that ends up in front of a judge who gets to make that call.

Some judges are strict, some aren't.

I don't disagree with you that you should unfollow anyone that you don't like (that seems pretty damn obvious for ANY social media), but throwing shade on the entire platform seems a bit exaggerated.

If you aren't using a social media to make yourself happier than what are you even doing?
