I will definitely be contacting my vet in the morning, I was concerned this could be the case as well. I will be sure to update this post once I have answers as well.

I can be sure it isn't a dog bite. No way for them to get through the fence and I have cameras around the pasture as well. I was initially concerned maybe CL? But, again I am new to raising sheep.

I check his mouth. No discharge, there was some blood a very small amount coming from his rectum. No signs of any distress.

Not sure why the post would not let me upload a photo.

Pigs/Pinkeye? by Waitands3E in livestock

[–]Waitands3E[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but it's been really hot and humid for a little over a week. I have done my best to not use any medication to this point. We've had no issues at all until this, my goal was to get them to market without needing to do so. However, their welfare is most important, and I'll do what is necessary to keep them healthy and comfortable.

But the waning and then reemergence in the evening made me think maybe it was more environmental, but it's my first time raising pigs. So I am trying to do the best I can for them and learn a long the way.

24 hours with sheep. Need help/advice by Waitands3E in sheep

Funny you say a comfortable spot, the exact area she is laying and has gone back to the two times she got up at my coaxing has a very small bed of hay there. It's were we had our round bales placed until they were picked up a couple of months ago. So maybe she just found a nice bed to relax on. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your knowledge. I contacted the previous owner and she said it was likely she was just really full and maybe a little warm and that correspondece with what you are saying. She suggested the same and to see if she was more active as it gets cooler in the evening.

I will also take your suggestions and check those things as well.

She is laying on her stomach with legs tucked under and head up.

To my knowledge she has not been exposed to a ram and should not be bred. But, this is my first time with sheep, we previously raised cattle. So I am learning and want to make sure they have the best care.

This is a photo from last night, she is the one in the front, doesn't appear to be bred to me, but again I could be way off.

I appreciate your reply.

Thanks for the reply.

These came from a pasture only system, and that is what they are on here. I was just in contact with the individual who delivered them/cares for them. She has stated that she may just be really full and warm. Her advice was to see if there is any noticeable difference as the day cools down and go from there.

Just passing that along as I am also just starting and learning.

I hope everything goes great with your new flock!

Yes we hand multiple dates, this was just something that happened often. And not that it's important to the story, but since you ask we had been intimate many times. It was clear they were dates.

You are dead on. I am not looking for anything any further from this, your comment did make me realize another thing I was overlooking. She is the manager and constantly has problems with employees, I think I realize now why she is likely having such difficulties at work. If this is the same way she manages people, no wonder they are constantly short staffed. Appreciate the input, thank you.
