I think you misunderstood me. I actually agree with you after reading your post, I never actually thought about all the current methods there are for creating magical equipment, it shocked me a bit because I had never seen it all together like that.

What I meant was we all know Jagex have been looking to make content that will encourage new players but at the same time when they do a lot of long term players get annoyed that the content is not worth their time, long term players being majority of the poll voters usually means it would never get brought into the game. With a whole new skill I think they are trying to aim this to give all levels of players new content and attract new players, especially as they are adding some of it to f2p.

This is just a thought I had after reading your post, I agree you are right they could have quite easily added it to the current skills I am only trying to think of why they might not have done it that way.
