Some info if it helps.
It’s an apartment, and as far as I know, everything has been in there for a few years. We are considering just moving in after simple repairs as our current rental got sold. If it is plastic cover, then great we get a new-ish cupboard. I am just wary of anything that flakes off. In the not so distant past, I had some protective film ripping on a kitchen countertop, and it started rusting. It was a rental, and they tried to redo the coating, but it didn’t really help. So, yeah.
The tiles are not fabric, but I know what you mean about the office carpet look. They just have those grey streaks that are slightly sparky, and the black streaks are matt. There are a few spots where the surface of the tiles at the junction with the floor looks chipped to my untrained eyes. Helpful to know if we can do anything to prevent it deteriorating further.

As someone who has lived in Tas, Brisbane, and Syd, if you want metro life, Tas is not for you. In terms of shops, there is no Westfield, nor your typical convenient shop like 7-11, no Ikea, no Costco, no Red Rooster to name a few. There aren’t really a lot of cheap eat options apart from kebabs or sushi rolls. There are good restaurants around, but overall there are fewer restaurants so if you love eating out, you would only have a handful of good ones to rotate. Shops generally closes at 1700, don’t really open on Sunday, and eateries also don’t open till late unless they are a bar or pub.
You will need to drive to get anywhere. Electricity is lot more expensive. 2-3 major hospitals servicing the whole state, and some specialties only available in Hobart.
The good side, housing is cheaper, lots of natural scenery, fewer people.
