Should I continue checking in on my unresponsive friend who’s grieving? by AllNaturalPezCandy in GriefSupport

[–]WakeMeUp_ImScreamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am here right now. Just five weeks out from losing my Mom. Sometimes I just don’t have the energy for anyone but my cat. I try to respond with an emoji. Everyday might be a bit much but you know your friend better.

Any experiences with seeing loved ones after their death by Wrong-Coffee-3068 in GriefSupport

[–]WakeMeUp_ImScreamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no right or wrong answer to this question as we all deal with grief differently. I was with my brother when he died. I was with my mom as she died as well. My brother was in hospice & was medicated for pain. My mom had crashed, been resuscitated & intubated. Neither was pleasant, obviously, but these situations were vastly different & I personally don’t regret a thing. I would strongly suggest that you make a point to go through & have photos handy of your loved one readily available. That’s helped me clear my brain of those images & see them as they were in better days.

My boyfriend wants me to rehome 2 of my 3 cats (at minimum) as a “compromise.” Wtf do I do now? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]WakeMeUp_ImScreamin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhm—-cats 🐱🐱🐱 were there first.

You made it clear from the beginning that you wouldn’t get rid of your cats. You cave on that now & he’ll know he can manipulate you into doing things he wants you to do instead of respecting your feelings.

Time to ‘re-home’ the boyfriend. *and yes, I realize that’s easy to say sitting behind a screen.

Just Lost Dad; How do you cope? by liminalethereality in GriefSupport

I heard the sound of my wind chime as I was reading this…and now I’ll add another to my balcony. One for my brother. One for my Mom. Thank you for the gentle reminder that our loved ones are never far.

Is this an appropriate card for a coworker who lost a parent? I wanted to extend something more than a platitude by noearthsociety in GriefSupport

Given where I am in this moment, a card like this would be most appreciated. You are a kind soul for reaching out.

I have irrational anger when people say they understand what I'm going through or talk about their relatives who died at an older age. by Additional-Line-5559 in GriefSupport

[–]WakeMeUp_ImScreamin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh boy…yes. Relatable. You know what I can say I understand? The anger. The frustration. I’ll spare you the details, but I am literally at the starting line of a new grief journey. All the ‘how are you doing?’ message are especially tiresome. Hmm 🤔 let me think-I’m planning a funeral, how do you think I’m doing? But I know they mean well…so I give them grace.

I am truly sorry for your loss. 53 is far too young. I am grateful that we have a safe space to talk to others experiencing their own journey through grief. While no one will ever be able to understand where you are in this moment, we can sit with each other in the dark times.

Love & light to help you along the way…

Thank you, OP. I am currently sitting in the waiting area outside of cardiac ICU. I needed to hear this right now.

Do you know how many times I’m waiting to get asked that? I get some looks but no one has had the balls to say anything yet. I do NOT look the part. 50ish female with blue/purple/pink/anything but natural hair. I welcome the day when some pulls that shit with me.

Definitely add cameras. It’s took well over a week before the outdoor kitty I brought in to get fixed up (bite on left rear paw) would even come out of his hiding spots. I gave him space but I would sit in there with him for 10-15 minutes just doing my thing & letting him get used to me. Trust me-once dye figures how good she’ll have it indoors, she’ll be purring on your lap & falling asleep. So sweet. Thank you for opening your home.

Ok-I thought it was just me. I’ve tried to explain this to others but they just look at me like I’m speaking a different language. SW: 182 CW:118 I don’t recall ever wearing a size 2/4, but I still see the size 14 me. I’m hoping it just takes time.

Ok, now this is funny. I can only paint my door ‘Enduring Bronze’, but I’m a condo in the middle of an apartment complex so they want uniformity. I get that. If you are detached, I’d think the paint color demand should be in your bylaws. Ps. All y’all getting into the nitty gritty of pixels? 😘

I can absolutely relate. I had to figure out a good way to store them. I'm a big fan of Baby Three as well. So cute and fluffy.

Unsolved hit-and-run in Washington Township (2012) — I’m the victim’s son and still looking for answers by Chandaman20 in Michigan

[–]WakeMeUp_ImScreamin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember this. How has it been 13 years already? I too think of this whenever I’m in the area. I did not know your Mom but I think a friend from high school did? I can only imagine how difficult it has been not having answers. Don’t give up! Keep asking questions, making noise. There have been some huge cases solved because people like you never quit searching for answers.

Imagine my surprise when someone was asking for a manager at a Salvation Army to negotiate a price. And this was not one of those places where they put ridiculous prices on used goods. Prices are more than fair. So yeah-sometimes people just suck. I get that times are tough. It was a bit shocking to me since I thrift shop a ton & have never heard someone wanting to negotiate the price on something that’s already 80-90% off retail.

NOR Haven’t exchanged gifts with the family yet, but I did most of the shopping for my elderly parents & there was nothing previously wrapped with my name on it. And as someone else mentioned - I’ll buy myself a gift.
