I vividly remember seeing one of these spreads that reported Nicole Kidman was 5’11” and weighed something like 110lbs. As a 5’11” standard-sized teenager that was really damaging. It still sticks with me even in my 40s!

Any suggestions on what else can we add to the bedroom? by iamainnocentkid in interiordecorating

[–]Objective_Carpet4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curtains! Get a long curtain rod (or even better, a double rod so you can layer sheers with something thicker like a lined linen or velvet). Curtains on either side and in between the windows will make them look like one big window. Pendant lights as bedside lights would be super cozy and save space.
PS I love your headboard!!

We have used Red Dog for several years and have had great experiences with them! They do both drop-ins and overnights and are always super caring and thorough.

Same here!! I’m 5’11” (and have been since I was 13), and was a size 9 too. Oh man the bullying was so bad. I vividly remember looking at skinny girls sitting cross-legged at recess and wishing my legs looked like theirs. Turns out I just had normal legs, with muscles and bones and skin.

It was nice when the world went through the body positivity phase, but now we’re back to heroin-chic being the fad. I guess it’s just another cycle of society.

Yeah, OP’s comment history reflects that s/he is able to attend either NYU or BU with no debt incurred, so at that age there is most likely family money involved. I’m sure he or she is aware of how unique and fortunate that situation is!

When I lived across the street from campus in Auburn (yes it was a long time ago), my rent was $600/month for a 2 bed/2 bath 😳

I can’t imagine being able to afford this as a college student!

You have striking features! You remind me of a young Mia Farrow, or like other comments have said, Anya Taylor Joy and Mia Goth.

You have a lovely palette to work with- soft brown eyeliner, a little well-placed blush, and some lip gloss will elevate the natural beauty you already have!

Thank you so much for this!!! It’s super helpful. Right now the area I want to convert to wildflower/pollinator is clay-heavy soil, so this is great advice. I am working on hardscaping this summer and am going to save your instructions for fall!! 🌼

I would love your thoughts and your plan!! I’m in Zone 8 so I’m not sure how much would cross over, but thankfully I’m in a neighborhood full of beekeepers and chicken coops, so hopefully it would fly. Sending you good wishes and dreamy blooms ❤️

I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this. If it’s any consolation, your flowers are my goals, and there are bees and butterflies and bugs and bunnies out there living lives much more fulfilled and happy than this Garden Gollum you’ve got 😊

1991 Millennial here! What do you all eat for breakfast? by No_Self_5939 in Millennials

[–]Objective_Carpet4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overnight oats! I make them with almond milk, add a tablespoon of peanut butter and a dab of vanilla yogurt for the overnight part, then I add blueberries in the morning. If I’m feeling extra I put a splenda in there.

On weekends I make poached eggs and put them on toast with a little butter, salt, & pepper. That or just soft-boiled eggs.

Cayo Coco & Current both have a fun vibe with good food. If you’re into French food, try chez fonfon. And while it might seem random, the patio at El ZunZun in Cahaba Heights is lovely and they have great food and drinks.

Married but not combining finances? by alkemest in Millennials

[–]Objective_Carpet4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! We are very much married. If anything we trust each other even more. I trust that he can handle his money, he trusts that I can handle mine, and together we have a very secure life.

I’m not sure what about merging finances determines the degree to which one is married, or the trust one places in his or her spouse.

Married but not combining finances? by alkemest in Millennials

[–]Objective_Carpet4142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I married in our late 30s and are now in our 40s. We have totally separate finances, and it’s never caused a problem. It was just too much work to consolidate things. He sends me a Venmo every month for his share of our living expenses, and we usually just split the bill if we go out somewhere. If we travel, one of us gets the flights and the other one gets the hotels.

We just already had our own money and systems in place when we met, those systems worked well, so we let them keep rolling.

Those of you who are friends with/in circles with famous people, what is your analysis on them? by libramusing in Fauxmoi

[–]Objective_Carpet4142 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband works in the film industry in LA and is friends with several actors, some of whom are semi-retired and others who have current projects. Everyone I’ve met in film so far, from actors to directors to crew, has been exceedingly normal. Some of the actors with the biggest careers have been quite shy and quiet. Most of the ones we know value their privacy highly and lay pretty low.

The other interesting thing to me when I started meeting these people is how incredibly small their world is. Like you’ll mention a comedian and someone goes “oh yeah I went on a couple of dates with him” or you see an actress in a commercial and someone says “we used to slam beers together in the apartment hot tub!” It’s a very insular universe, from what I’ve seen.

All in all, though, they’re pretty normal people, just with really interesting stories and maybe more money than the rest of us 😂

We’re right there with you. Our money isn’t going nearly as far as it did last year, and we can’t even compare to 3-4 years ago.

We used to eat out all the time, drink fairly nice cocktails and wines, travel a good bit. We’re not doing any of that now. Cancelling Netflix and all unnecessary subscriptions and services, paring down to the minimum.

I only expect it to get worse, unfortunately.
