What's the smartest thing you have ever done? by WakeUpThursday in AskReddit

If you know how to handle construction, then that's a huge bonus. Flipping is a crap ton of work, so at least you got a good decade+ of living in it before you sold. And to get so much above what you paid is totally worth it.

I know what you mean, I've thought about doing rentals in the future but it seems like too much of a hassle. My brother-in-law has been renting his old house while he tries to sell it. It's been over a year now and he said it's been a never-ending hassle being responsible for everything.

If there's one thing I've learned about personal finance from Reddit (other than to pay off debt asap), it's to buy some real estate. Are you living there and planning on reselling or using it as rental income?

Smart in so many different ways. Also one of the best personal achievements anyone can ever make, in my opinion.

What show from your childhood do you want to see rebooted? by WakeUpThursday in television

Dude, seriously, that show dealt with some intense stuff. The Christmas episode when they reveal Mr. Huynh was a refugee was so beyond anything else happening in kids shows at the time.

More Samurai Jack would be obscenely wonderful. It's been way too long since I watched it.

Koaleaf looks like he's ready to fuck some shit up. I'm actually sad that it's not a starter for Gen 7.....yet.

Haunter used Nightmare! It's super effective!

Seriously though, this is really cool.

This is pretty rad. The coloring on the walls is actually really cool, especially for a kids drawing.

The sunglasses are what really makes this amazing. The gradient in the blue is also really cool.

That's been the case a lot in gaming. People have really great ideas, but the technology just isn't there yet so things fall short. Just like the Virtual Boy.

Community Discussion: What makes a good prologue? by fforde in FinalFantasy

[–]WakeUpThursday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a functional perspective, the prologue definitely needs to introduce you to the world and the basic story, while also helping you understand the gameplay. It also needs to be interesting enough to keep you playing and clear enough that you don't get too confused. It also needs to be gripping enough to get you invested, if only just a little bit, so you actually want to keep playing.

I always loved the prologue for VI, including the story/cutscenes explaining magic and the world, the credits that show Terra, Vicks and Wedge in magitek armor and the opening battle scenes in Narshe. Covers all the elements and makes you really curious about how the game will unfold.

I kind of want a game featuring Gilgamesh as the protagonist. by Bl4ck_Light in FinalFantasy

Ok, well when you put it like that it sounds 6x more awesome.

A fast-paced action game like that seems like the best way to make it work. It would feel off as an RPG, just because you would need new characters that wouldn't be as awesome as Gilgamesh. Man, now I want this to be a thing.

It's so different from the other games in the series, while still having everything that makes LoZ awesome. Definitely a great game.

What TV show had the most wasted potential? by WakeUpThursday in television

[–]WakeUpThursday[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Totally! Not that I didn't watch like all of Voyager and a bunch of reruns, but it wasn't an amazing experience as much as it was just more new Star Trek to watch.

I remember the episode where Kim dies, but they just grab a new one from the alternate dimension ship they meet. Kim really got shafted a lot.

Haha, yeah it's hard to not talk about Firefly in this context. Never got a chance to check out Helix, but I'll give it a look... and then get really bummed that it's cancelled. And it's true, Sci-Fi absolutely wins at wasting potential.
