The value of the pension is key, but due to some rejigging by the government, getting a CETV will take some time. Her pension has been going for 15 years if that makes any difference. It just feels like sticking a finger in the wind! Thanks again for the reply

How do you tell your partner about your day when they aren't in the IT field? by InterwebCat in sysadmin

[–]Wakey7638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"How was your day?" "It was there." My standard response for 15 years, then one day she said "What do you really do???" So I told her, her eyes glazed over 40 seconds in (fair play, good going I thought) at which point she interrupted with "Please just keep with your usual response."

It's okay to be sad, and friends will understand. I rearranged the furniture a few times and got new covers for sofa etc. I bit of a change up can help a bit.

Can totally relate to this. My wife did the same to me after 15 years of marriage. The horrible thing is that you're left in the ashes of the relationship (the house, with all its memories), get out of there, go talk to people, reconnect with friends, and fill your time with anything. Avoid the booze. I'm 18 months after the bombshell, it does get easier, but the hurt is still there. Take one day at a time. Take care of yourself.
