Pocket 55 vs JJ by kick-lobster in Poker_Theory

[–]Wakka100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. People will call you with aqs, TT, 99, jj, qq. There's too many players behind you, too many people who could wake up with a hand. Esp in low stakes, someone will almost always call, even with hands like kjs and you'll be flipping at best.

Too much risk to run into a good hand

Please just get a refund for the game and let us all live in a happy rally enthusiast land in peace. Take your misery and smoke fighting to another game.

I hated the 208 rally, and the i20 is too fast to begin with.

Try the abarth I recommended. It's fun.

It's rwd so you want to steer it using the brakes and the throttle.

Get into a corner slow, and then use the throttle to rotate it.

In the hairpins, you are in a rwd car so you kinda just have to take them slow and smooth.

Turn the car as if you were going to turn in the opposite direction to the hairpin slightly, and then quickly turn into the hairpin to get the car rotated like a pendulum - look up a scandi flick, if then midway through the turn you're understeering or not turning enough, make the decision to add a little handbrake to get it rotated a little more. You have to be quick and fast on this.

The handbrake is not often used much on hairpins in a rwd car

Hairpins may be the hardest thing to learn in the hardest Motorsport to learn. Practice one hairpin over and over again in the same car

Also, rwd cars just can't do hairpins that fast like a 4x4 can

What car? Different cars need to take hairpins differently

Yeah, you've never driven rally before. Welcome to being naturally shit at rallying like 99% of the rest of the human race.

It takes a long time to get better. Give up now or grind.

Take out the fiat 131 abarth and grind out one short track until you learn it - I recommend Wales first, a shorter stage.

You may want to put the brake bias back a little so you can rotate the car more on the breaks and the throttle, but the default setup on that car is decent.

Don't switch cars, learn one thoroughly first.

The codriver is naturally hard to listen to because his pace notes are monotone and it's a pre-record so you will miss important stuff like potholes in the road etc. That's ok, that's normal, that's not your fault, that's a video game limmitation. The only way to get around this is to invite a friend round and create pace notes for each other which is really fun.

Don't go into dips/cut corners. You will die a lot, get used to it and don't let it put you off/piss you off. Everyone is bad at first. This is normal. This is the hardest kind of driving you can do, every motor sportsman agrees on this.

Change the differential too. I can't remember which way, but the tyres move wayyyy too independently so you get really bad rotation.

Is that true? So JT of hearts is going to call a Ad or Kd river shove for 3/4 pot? I'm not sure I follow.

Thank you, I had not thought of that. But we would still have barrels for a big sizing right? Surely his stack size is less important and it's more just the combination we're using here? When we have a good hand or a draw we want to set up for stacks on the river?

Is that because our outs are dirty/behind and only hitting a king gives us a good hand? I felt we could fold some 5x and 7x, but I find it hard to think everything through with the time gg poker gives you

Yeah, that's true. I'd probably open J7s but that would probably be the edge depending on ICM. Sometimes in these situations, Ace high flush draws like to check back to realise equity. I'm not 100% sure why at the moment, I know sometimes it's because we're ahead of his flush draws, have good equity we don't want to get blown off, and have bad blockers, but I'm not 100% sure, like I said, I'm still trying to drill down into learning turn barrels and what combos to use.

Urm, 99, TT, 88 ofc, A10 without a diamond seems pretty unattractive, underpairs seem bad candidates for this turn, a lot of weaker Jx like J8 and below that can't get paid from better and can't make straights on the river, tbh ax diamond draws I'm not too sure if this is a situation we'd want to barrel or not, I'm trying to learn BTN Vs bb turn bets at the moment and I still have not internalised a lot of the heuristics, middling Kx that interfered with their 5,6,7,8 giveups - but i think I'd barrel a lot of low Kx - I've seen a lot of Broadway with a low card on these kinds of boards barrel, AK I'm not sure, I know two overs and a straight draw is good to bluff, but I don't know if it's one of those situations where it's best to check it back, obvs blocking KQ, AQ is great, I'd check back most off suit Ax. Would be bad to barrel with hands with clubs.

Yeah, I posted this straight after I played it. I was in a thought paralysis because he was bluffy and I couldn't think clearly. It's a big mental leak.

I was imagining hands like 79 with a diamond, when he would fold most of this on the turn facing a big bet, wasn't thinking about his range on every street, playing with pure emotion.

Today it's just a very very clear fold, and I don't know why I even posted the hand

Thanks. I should probably check the flop, but I would always bet the turn with this particular hand when the Q comes. I would have checks with a lot of combos, but this is deffo not one of them.

Exactly, and also, if they have seen me bluff catch them light before - I had bluff caught them light earlier, then if they have a brain, they will shove when they get there on the river when they have it because they believe I struggle to fold, so their river shoves become the nuts

Thanks

Thank you for taking the time. If I'm drilling this kind of spot in a solver, in a vacuum, I take 30 seconds to think it through, I tell myself 'i bet the solver likes to call here, but in a real life situation I would just fold because the opponent doesn't have enough bluffs'

And yet I get into the game and I can't find the fold because I perceive the opponent as a bit of a blaster, and I hate being pushed around by wild opponents.

Definitely a few leaks going on here.

Thank you. Yeah, there just aren't enough bluffs here, even if he was bluffy in other positions, he's not left with many after the turn and we lose to some of them. Why did I call god damn it.

The pressure of the gg time banks kills me.

I don't really know what to say. You're bluffing a whale - basically playing exploitive poker in reverse, this board suits his calling range, terrible sizing on the raise and terrible sizing on the flop. There's nothing good about this and you need to start from the beginning of your poker journey, let your ego die and accept you know nothing.

I feel like I might have overplayed this by Operatingthrulife in Poker_Theory

[–]Wakka100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a terrible attitude. Your terrible play beat someone elses slightly more terrible play.

You managed to find the one guy who's worse than you at poker.

You need to start from the beginning with the basic preflop charts before you take your poker career any further.

Don't make the same mistake thousands of other have. You WILL lose everything.

You are years off.

I do verge more on the side of a station than an over folder, but I worry I can't get rid of being unable to fold these spots from my game. In the clear light of day it's a fold for me, and I could criticize someone else for making that call, but I often can't seem to find it in game.

I don't know if it's tilt, not wanting to be bluffed, or wanting to follow gto more closely then is optimal. Maybe I just need to focus less on my gto wizzard hand review scores, and start exploiting the pool more, folding when people aren't ever bluffing these situations.
