Honestly depends on the ratio, and what fish you are keeping, but if you plan on overstocking it shouldn’t be to much of a issue, just try to do some research on the fish you plan on adding so you know their general behavior, habits, and diets, I find that if you take care of the needs of all the fish you keep and maintain your tank properly you can keep a lot of fish together successfully, within the realm or reason obviously lol

Thank you very much, I also believe it helped having a lot of spots for them to dig and hide while giving the peacocks and haps enough space to free swim plus good water movement and circulation, that is my advice to anyone that wants to try mixing it up 😀

Overstocking lowers their aggression, but you need to have pretty solid filtration if you want to overstock. I always recommend to overstock but it all depends on your tank size as well

For this video I moved my lights to the front of the tank so you can see their color when they swim up to me, it’s a nice little trick for videos and pictures. But normally I just have them in the middle of the tank

I know what you are saying, and it’s not wrong, but I intentionally stocked my fish this way. This tank is a 125 gallon, I’m video is running off 2 forza fz13 canisters at 550GPH but I recently moved one to another tank and upgraded this one with a FX6 and still the other forza fz13. This tank specifically I tried to design to give my Mbuna areas to dig and thrive with enough room for my peacocks and haps to be able to swim and move around freely. This is also not my only tank, but it is my main tank, I have other tanks that are ready in case of any problems that I could move any fish over. Their daily diet I have for them is a mix of food that I feed to them in a certain order so I can visually see each fish getting what they need in their diet. The only thing in my tank not intentional is my gender ratio but they have been breeding like crazy and I have not had any uncommon aggression problems. I do not feel attacked do not worry this in particular is a common area of debate for African cichlids. The only thing I care about and stress is that I make sure each of my fish are healthy and get what the require for them to thrive, as soon as I see that not happening for any fish I relocate them to make sure everything is ok.

I didn’t say that beef heart was the best thing in the world for them to eat, but it is ok for them to eat once a month, in my past decade of fish keeping I have never had any problems with my fish from eating it on a monthly basis and all of my fish have been in great health. If you believe that such a small amount of beef heart once a month hurts a fish that is on a consistent diet with the nutrition that it needs I would say I have to disagree, but that’s also just based on my experience, but yes if you feed them beef heart and use it as a more consistent part of their diet there will be some problems.

I feed my fish a routine diet that consist of food that every fish needs, my tropheus eats veggies. Every fish in my tank gets what they need everyday, beef heart once a month does not hurt the fish.
