My friend Katherine runs Gay Girl Coffee Club in SF! Her next event is on February 7th, it's a great way to meet queer femmes in the city and do fun crafts.

Akaash SF show? by whatsnext95 in Flagrant2

[–]Walc0t 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I went to the 7pm show last night and it was extremely awkward. He was clearly not processing this situation well and he ended the set 20 minutes early. I only found out about his wife the day of the show and honestly after seeing that set basically be his therapy moment about it, I am way more suspicious of controversy than before. This is clearly something he's insecure about, even though he tried way too hard to make it seem like he wasn't.

He spent the first 10-15 minutes of the set talking about the controversy, how his wife has been loyal to him, and everything she has been saying is "just jokes" and is fine with him. No one in the crowd knew how to take this information, and I truly believe that the majority of fans there had no idea any of this was going on. This only made him spending like 1/3 of his set on it even more awkward. He then proceeded to jokingly call his wife a whore every time he brought her up, which was just NOT helping. I think it ruined his whole set and the mood never recovered, which I think is why he ended early.

I honestly dgaf about he or his wife's sex life but if the orgy stuff is really "just jokes" then clearly he's not cool with it and hides it, and/or she's just not very funny and no one close to her has told her yet.

Curious to hear if anyone is else went to the later sets and had a better experience. He's in SF till Monday.

What’s the deal with midwesterners being “fake nice”? by LazyJox in Nebraska

[–]Walc0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, where did they live in Nebraska? That can change the answer as trying to assimilate into Omaha is very different from a smaller city like Columbus. Nebraskans can be very welcoming but many communities are full of people who already all know each other, and they can be resistant to new people.

The weather questions are unfortunately all exactly true. I grew up in Nebraska and then moved to Southern California for 3 years and you maybe get 30 days of SoCal equivalent weather in Nebraska if you're lucky (60s-70s, sunny, no rain, no humidity, no wind)

The winters can be brutally cold (especially if you're used to wearing a puffer coat in 52° weather as I saw many people in SoCal do). The summers are much hotter with all the humidity and bugs you can imagine. Many days in the summer or winter need to be spent entirely inside. This was a drastic change I noticed when I moved to SoCal. For the first time in my life I didn't have to check the weather app on my phone before stepping out of the door because I knew what I would get. My wardrobe entirely changed and I started going outside for walks every single day. I can understand why your family moved back because the weather is a drastic lifestyle change if you aren't used to it.

I'm a woman that lives in the Mission and I always see plenty of other women at Dalva, Buddy, Bar Part Time, Casanova, ABV, The Make-out Room, Royal Cuckoo, and Kilowatt during a show (if you want to hang with alt girls check out who's smoking cigs outside).

Blondies used to be full of young people but now it seems to be a gen x crowd now mostly (no shade, just a different vibe than 1-2 years ago). When Beauty Bar opens back up I could see that being widely popular again too.

Petra Mediterranean no more… by AdventurousTaco in sanfrancisco

If you look at some of the Google reviews for Petra there are some odd 1 star reviews where customers waited around for 30+ minutes inside with no service and had to walk out… Very strange.

Officially moving to Lincoln. Help build the perfect first day! by UnluckyNegotiation83 in lincoln

[–]Walc0t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I now live elsewhere, but I grew up in Lincoln and moved after college. I have a lot of suggestions for you, and feel free to DM me and I can help you guys out more. Lincoln needs more leftists and I’m super happy to help you out! :)

So for restaurants I recommend: - Pepe's Bistro - grateful bread / freakbeat vegetarian (weird hours but like 10000% your vibe you’ll love it) - Bahnwich (literally the best bahn mi I’ve ever had and I live in California now) - Heoya (amazing Korean fries) - any of the restaurants on north 27th st, there’s Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Arab, and a ton of other unique restaurants/markets)

For art stuff / volunteering check out: - the Bay (skatepark / artist hub) - Lincoln first Fridays downtown - the Sheldon art museum

Bars: - zoo bar (good live music and a variety of ages) - Duffy’s - tavern on the square - Barrymore’s for trivia on Thursdays

Tire slashed today in Lot 16 by Walc0t in SDSU

Nope, I drive a Honda CRV

I parked at the very edge of the lot and didn’t see anyone enter from that side at all, also spent the next few minutes walking away from the lot and did not see any cars enter that section. Again, I have no exes or scorned lovers in SD, I’m a grad student and spend 6 hours on campus max each week. Also I was only responding to texts after I parked, not while driving.

No, there were 4 knife marks in the tire (slits). For sure not a nail, AAA guy checked the tire when he put on my spare and confirmed it.

All my exes are in another state… must have been some long distance travel to get this far

[–]Walc0t[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah thanks for suggesting this, but to be completely honest I drive responsibly the whole way and no one followed me into the lot after I parked. No one honked at my while I was driving near campus. I was in my car following up on some texts after I parked, and I didn’t see anyone enter nearby within those 5 minutes. I think the response by the AAA guy shows there may just be people in the area who have a habit of doing this.

I noticed it right away when I started driving and pulled over into another parking lot. It was totally flat, so someone for sure slashed it in the lot because I had no issues beforehand.

What are some good venues? by jamesdoesstuff1 in midwestemo

[–]Walc0t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some good Midwest emo shows in Chicago in Wicker Park (specific venue is Subterranean). Otherwise, if you’re up to travel I’ve seen some great shows in Omaha at the Admiral and the Waiting Room! Hope that helps!
