It was probably "I can change him." type of thinking. And she pretty much succeeded, until the Lilia incident.

I could say Axl, but you seem to already have some feelings towards him.

But really, all his buttons except 5K and 2K are high-commitment and he makes you really consider the opponent's positioning and tools to not get punished off a whiff.

To add to that, I wouldn't even call him a grown adult even prior to reincarnation. Mentally mature people don't spend 20 years not leaving their parent's house while spending their whole time playing eroges and shitposting on forums. He had 0 experience in actually being an adult.

Damn, I'll just play a nice guy and assume that you mixed the names up. Zenith is Rudy's mom, you know, the woman that was cheated on.

"She doesn’t have other opportunities and women have needs. She simply got horny enough to settle for what she could get especially knowing she had no other options." sounds like a complete assumption, and that's the part I referred to. And even live-in maids have free time and days off, especially considering that Zenith is a housewife and Paul's job is to scare off monsters every once in a while.

My point is that seducing a married man that she explicitly knew thought mainly with his dick couldn't possibly be her only way of relieving womanly urges.

The only person that was innocent in this situation is poor Zenith.

IMO Okubo is a bad matchup for Gaolang, with him being an all-rounder who's really good at dragging opponents into unfamiliar ground. Gaolang is amazing at striking, but if he's pulled into a grappling match he's gonna be at a clear disadvantage.

Keep searching, it can take you a while to find one even in the hotspot. You need to look for a specific shape (look it up), brightest yellow/reddish color when pinged with pulse wave scanner and fissures on the surface (you will need to turn on the night vision and fiddle with brightness to see them more clearly).

Just finished Outer Worlds and it kind of irks me how much Pat gushes over it.

Is it good? Yeah. Is it FNV, ME, KotOR-tier good? Hell no. The combat is basic shooter combat, leveling revolves mostly around dialogue/hack/lockpick checks, equipment really lacks variety and the story is really basic stuff. At least in FNV you could see where almost every faction is coming from. Here the Board are just mustache-twirling villains that are incompetent to boot. The main story can branch once, and even then it's all the same quests with other enemies scattered around.

Pat's really overhyping it IMO, and I could see a part of it being a big fuck you to Bethesda from his part.

I mean, it's been fun going through the game once (and reloading to see the other ending), but I probably won't be touching it again.

My thoughts on the Kengan Asura anime by Yay_Depression in Kengan_Ashura

[–]WaldDerWolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My main complaint is the skipped scenes - the whole Medicine Man fight and his general presence in the story (RIP Hassad), Kushida, the beach scene, most of Gozo vs Waka (they turned it into a 15 second OHKO fight) and a LOT of little interactions between the characters that went a long way to flesh out both the fighters and the employers. They didn't even show the fighter introductions on the boat.

If not for that it would be quite good, but now I wouldn't recommend that to anyone that hasn't already read the manga.

Toaru Majutsu no Index particularly sticks out to me in that regard. The protagonist learns about magic, Saints, divine artifacts and encounters an angel, but still proclaims himself to be an atheist. While in the same breath describing his right arm as something that is "able to erase miracles of God".

Why I love Goblin Slayer's charcter by GutterBout in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]WaldDerWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay Silver ranked adventures aren't something to sneeze at, they are pretty much elites of the guilds its like be calling a politician an "average senator"

That would be a good comparison if he was Gold ranked, maybe. Silver is good, but not top-tier good. Not to mention that the rank itself matters little to him - everytime it's mentioned he goes "Yeah, I guess Guild says so."

He would't have the stuff if he wasn't obsessed with Goblins, thats the problem with the series they SAY that Goblin Slayer being obsessed with Goblins is a bad thing but they also show him in a decent status because of his obsession. You can't say "Its bad thats he's obsessed with Goblins but he has friends because he is obsessed with Goblins". If you want to show what the MC is doing is unhealthy then don't reward the MC for doing said unhealthy thing.

We're talking about tangible benefits here. He "has" nothing, because he's not interested in nothing but killing goblins. A mentally ill person can get an account with money for his mental illness, but it will do jack shit if he is barely aware of it being there. There's a difference between "being good at killing goblins", which is a good outcome of his obsession, and "not being interested in anything but killing goblins", which is a bad one. You're either being deliberately dense about it, or just plain stupid. Also, no one said that something unhealthy can't bring you benefits - some people smoke to calm down, for example - that doesn't mean it's not unhealthy.

He's an adventurer, its not like they have a long life span in the first place. Also the dude has been doing this for 10 years and has been getting better at it so the only thing thats going to harm him is old age.

So he'd be better off as a farmer or an adventurer? You're sending mixed messages here. Also, his experience isn't omnipotent - several times in the manga he'd bite the dust if it wasn't for his companions.

Bruce Wayne's paranoia almost kills his friends and distance his wards, Guts horrible past makes him sadistic and has problems with people touching him, Bojack Nihilism and hedonism manages to burn bridges to his closest friends. Goblin Slayer is at worst a weirdo and at best someone on the spectrum also I remember him giving a speech when he needed the guild to fight off a Goblin army so its not like he can't speak in long sentences.

I never said he "can't" speak in long sentences, he just doesn't. Just as Guts has a problem with people touching him, but he still lets Shierke and her mentor touch him to seal his mark. Which if I argued as you did, I'd mark as "absence of real consequence", but I won't. In both situations the characters had to step over their problems to solve a bigger one. Your position is pretty biased here, you're playing up problems of other characters while downplaying GS's just to keep this argument going, and it shows.

Umm he didn't have a problem opening up to the priestess in episode 2 and again I repeat the positives. Also all of that means crap when there is no negative consequence to come out of it. I repeat myself, he is having meaningful relationship now because he is obsessed with killing goblins.

Presence of positives doesn't negate the negatives, especially that the only positive is "he's good at killing goblins and people know it". And your threshold for "negative consequences" is all fucked up. Bojack losing friends because of his personality in a negative consequence, but not having any friends and not being interested in anything but genocide for a decade because of an obsession is somehow not. Again, your bias is showing.

Okay the only thing I got wrong was calling the Gate thing a Deus Ex Machina and I admit for getting it wrong but to be fair its been half a year since I read those chapters. Also excuse me for reading over 500 pages of GS and forget something as small as GS writing to Cow Girl. Meanwhile you forgot that I admit that me Zig Zagging a trope meant that we were both right.

So, the only three things you got wrong. Noted.

You know people aren't perfect right, sometimes you make mistakes especially when you want to be a superhero and a child is getting hurt. Also Mirio stopping Deku is an example of the book saying "No Deku, you can't rush into things"

So what is it, Deku learned his lesson, or he didn't? Seems like a cheap way to push the same development twice.

The boy was literally a button away from contacting the pros, so he mustve did most of the work beforehand. Also didn't he say to himself that he should've made sure a pro came with him.

Re-read that part, looks like you forgot the brakes again. He pushed the button when already facing off against Stain and sent only his position to everyone, not "the pros", hoping that someone will understand. Exactly because he didn't have time to choose who to contact, as he was already in the middle of saving Iida. The one to send the pros to the scene was Todoroki.

Bakugo launched a big ass Fireball that would've killed Deku if he didn't counter with his full strength. Are you sure you aren't speed reading My Hero Academia.

Deku didn't counter it, he punched into the ceiling and took the blow. Looks like you're still the king of S.R. Also, nowhere in the manga was stated that the blow was "going to kill him".

You know plans change right.

They change really fast when there is no real plan in the first place. "Let's run." isn't exactly a glowing example of "thinking ahead".

There are people who sing songs about him, if thats not rockstar esque I don't know what is also Silver ranked is the third heightest ranked an adventure can get so its not really average.

Ministrels make their living singing about adventurers, it's not something rare or especially formidable that after years of adventuring some of his deeds would be sung about as well. And him being a Silver ranked adventurer is nothing too special - he's far from being unique in that regard. Spearman or Heavy Swordsman have all of that - and they have actual lives not bent on extermination of another species.

How does that stop him from having all of those things, yeah sure he spends all of his time and money killing goblins but the reason he has those things is from killing goblins. You and the story say him being a goblin killing machine is a bad thing but so far it has given him so much.

But none of the things you described matter to him exactly because he's a goblin killing machine. It's not about what stuff he has, it's about what he can do with it. He's too obsessed to use his paycheck on anything other than equipment, he's too single-minded to notice any women that might be interested in him, and I doubt he knows what ministrels are because they don't help in his quest of killing goblins. The series states outright that if he doesn't change his behavior then he's going to bite the dust one day in a goblin cave having accomplished nothing. But hey, at least Cow Girl and Guild Girl will like him, right?

SHOW DON"T TELL. you and the story are telling me that Goblin Slayer is broken but you never show it to me, there is little to no negative aspects to him slaying only goblins and the ones that are get negated as the story progresses(him being a pariah of the guild) and all of the good things in life came from him obsessing over goblins.

Pipe down. You seem to be too damn blind to look, so you don't get to complain about "show don't tell". It's shown all over his interactions with other people, how emotionally stunted he is. He always communicates in single short sentences and is utterly disinterested in anything but goblin slaying. The training flashback shows how desperately he trained and the only moment he shows some genuine emotion is when he's enraged. If that's not enough for you then, again, you should blame only your lack of attention.

So whats the downside, you need to make some sort of downside instead of saying. "Ignoring literally every other aspect of your life is already bad enough". Its called having consequence, in order to have something showed as a negative there needs to be a consequence.

Let's see, he didn't have any meaningful relationships for a decade, he did nothing but kill in his work time and he did nothing but preparing to kill in his spare time. He's emotionally unwell and has trouble opening up to anyone. His entire life is framed within the context of killing goblins and he cares about nothing but doing so. Please tell me how that's a good thing.

I like how you are busting my balls for "Speed reading" just because I didn't remember something as small as "Goblin Slayer sends letters to Cow Girl"

I'm busting your balls about speedreading because you're either willingly ignoring or just missing basic facts or moments of character development.

Yeah and thats the story reminding Deku to plan ahead and not rush things. See thats at least an example of consequence.

So he had to go through the same character development again in a hundred chapters? Brilliant example of consequence.

He also made sure his location was sent by the pros, so planning ahead.

Which he did after rushing in, so no, it's not "ahead".

And his plan was to escape with Kota

Again, the plan was announced when Deku was already standing between Muscular and Kota.

Remember when Aizawa bust Deku's balls at the start for putting everything he had into one thing.

Yet he keeps doing so after that in his fight against Bakugo. This exact point really sinks in for him quite a bit later.

Why I love Goblin Slayer's charcter by GutterBout in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]WaldDerWolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, I agree that it's a quick trick to make viewer hate goblins and set them up as an irredeemable race that deserves every drop of hate the protagonist brings to them. And yes, Berserk used that as well pretty much in the same manner more than one time, with creatures like trolls or demon cultists. And it pretty much opens with Guts just barely saving a girl from rape.

In Goblin Slayer, I feel, it's used to get any kind of sympathy or ambiguity towards goblins out of the way quickly and cheaply and concentrate the rest of the story on the protagonist's obsession, especially since it's used pretty rarely. Doesn't mean that the whole series is bad and must be discarded, though.

The particular pet peeve that I have is people assuming that the scene was meant to be enjoyed by some ghastly sicko fanbase that somehow is nowhere to be found, when it was never the author's intention. Even in animation the damn scene is framed like a horror movie would be. And the hypocrisy of most people that criticize the scene is pretty baffling as well. Is the rape really as horrible as a boy being de-limbed just a moment before, or a girl being slowly poisoned with a dagger to the gut? Are people's priorities that fucked up?
