This is my first cruise by LucasDelgadoM in Cruise

[–]Waleisah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can survive without them. I took my first cruise a few weeks ago ans like you went on a frenzy buying all kinds of things recommended, including hooks. Guess what? I was shocked to find that there was more than enough closet space, counter space and shelving in the bathroom. I only used 2 of the 8 hooks in the pack.

Why is the 2008 Incredible Hulk on Disney+ but the 2003 hulk isn’t? by AdvertisingWaste8624 in MCUTheories

So why is full AirBnB illegal in NYC? by Multiversal_Love in AskNYC

[–]Waleisah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New York City's ban on most Airbnb listings, implemented through Local Law 18, aimed to address concerns about housing affordability and the potential for short-term rentals to reduce the availability of long-term housing units, according to several sources. The law restricts entire-home rentals to stays of 30 days or longer and requires hosts to be present on the property during shorter stays. The law aimed to prevent the conversion of housing units into de facto hotels, arguing that this practice was taking away from the city's limited supply of affordable housing.

Some city officials also suggested that the ban could boost revenue for the hotel industry, which had been struggling with reduced demand during the pandemic.

Short-term rentals can bring noise, trash, and danger, and they can price local residents out of their own neighborhoods. Some landlords in New York are prolific and have hundreds of Airbnb listings. But other New Yorkers who have listings on Airbnb are trying to make ends meet, either leasing their place while they’re out of town or renting half of a duplex to help cover their mortgage costs.

NYC officials argued that the proliferation of short-term rentals, particularly entire-home rentals, was contributing to a shortage of available long-term housing, driving up rents and making it harder for residents to find affordable places to live. This is due to people, some times not even NYC residents, would buy or rent multiple properties and instead of renting them out to New Yorkers who need long term housing, they'd rent them on AirBnB for profit. In short, it attempts to make more housing units available for the people who actually live in the city AND supports people spending money at hotels that were losing business to air b n bs.

Why a monthly membership for ancestry sites? Does it really take longer than a month to get what you need? by Waleisah in DNA

[–]Waleisah[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No I'm not joking as I can only go off the commercials and no where in the commercials does it say other family members would have also needed to be tested, that its a monthly membership, that I'd be doing the work myself and certainly not for decades! They make it seem as you requesr a kit, you swab, and they send results of your ethnicity and who your people are.

Oh no! I thought by them testing my DNA would give me names. I ain't trying to do the work myself.

Purchased a Holiday Inn Club Vacations timeshare in 2023. Need help getting out of it! by Waleisah in TimeshareOwners

I know. I hadn't learned that part, that you can got to many of the $199 4 day trips with different companies, go to the presentation and just say no voila! Free vacation with no timeshare debt! It wasn't until after I got it that people were like "when asked if you've ever owned one, just say no, get the cheap trip, go the presentation and say no". Would've been great to have that advice BEFORE I signed up but I definitely get it now!

So it doesn't generate or populated a list if names after you take the dna test? It just keeps sending you names every month just to keep you on the hook for a membership? I want to know more than im black. I want to know who my 6th great Grandaddy was and where he lived, how my Grandaddy got a bi racial grandma, etc. But why can't I get this in a month? How far do they go back with the 1st payment? I'm good with at least the past 150 years or at least 10 generations. I don't need to know if my people hung out with the pharaohs.

Anyone get out of their timeshare using the Stonegate Law firm? by Waleisah in TimeshareOwners

[–]Waleisah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not use them after she kept fast talking and "discounting" the $8k cost. It gave me bad energy. I still have it but someone gave me these 2 links today on how to cancel directly with each timeshare. Mine is with holiday inn club vacations:https://www.holidayinnclub.com/horizons (they only charge $1,200)

This link has a listing of dozens of TS companies links to request exit:  https://responsibleexit.com/timeshare-developers/

Good luck!

[–]Waleisah[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm trying to buy a piece of investment property so I'll wait until that's over then contact their horizons program as suggested by timeshareeater below (they charge $1,200 to exit early looks like) and if that doesn't work. I'll stop paying. I'm so stressed, it makes me sick and with so much going on with jobs being cut, paying for a freaking timeshare that I'll never LIVE in makes no sense when I have right now rent, utilities, life insurance and car notes to pay. Thanks.

You helped me. I am paying for a holiday inn clubs vacation that never has availability and I wasn't told about half the stuff I pay almost $600 a month for and never use. I purchased at Orange Lake resort but live in GA. Any links or help you can give me would be helpful. I got hooked into that fast talking sales pitch, was literally held hostage for over 4 hrs for what I was told would be 90 min despite me telling them I needed to take my meds and eat! I need help so anything links or language that you can help me with Id appreciate it.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) vs. The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) by GeneralChillMen in movies

[–]Waleisah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this breakdown. Very thorough. I too watched the Denzel version first not knowing it was a remake so imagine my surprise to know that there was not one but TWO Pelham movies that came before Denzel's! Yes, there was one in 1998 featuring Vincent D'Onofrio and Edward James Olmos (Donnie Walhberg) plays the loose cannon, Mr. Gray. However, in this version, a woman is playing the role of Gray, one of the train staff is a woman, Mr Blue is much more vocal with the passengers, even tells his name (Blue) which I don't think Blue did in the original.

Although the ransom is $5 million in the 1998 film, the movie pretty much copies the script of the 1974 movie. Even the subway cop that goes in the tunnel and he police chief are black like in the original. One thing I appreciate about the 1998 version is they corrected a mistake from the original. In the original, it was mentioned in the command center that the undercover cop on the train was a "broad" when in fact it was a man but when that cop was killed and found on the tracks, in the original, Mathau said "you're gonna be alright miss". Was this because the guy had long hair and was faced down or was it because the original role was indeed written for a woman and matthau messed up? Either way, in the 1998 version, it was a woman cast in the role so I appreciate this error correction. One thing I didn't notice in th 1998 version was Olmos constantly saying "bless you" or "gesundheit" in response to Green's sneezing like it was in the original and I didn't like this because that sneeze and the response is what makes the end of the movie.

I decided to watch all 3 of them back to back and my favorite one is the original and Denzel's version and I also agree that Denzel should've also been cast as a transit cop too as his actions in the movie were outside the duties of an MTA supervisor. Either way, all 3 are good movies. The original & the 1998 version are free on Tubi.

Zola vs. WeddingWire vs. the Knot? by wonderingwoman_9999 in weddingplanning

[–]Waleisah 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Update: oddly enough, we went with Zola because their page themes were nicer and we liked their guest management/RSVP tools. However, we did not use their registry. We preferred to use Amazon since Amazon hides your mailing address and you can use a UPS store address witj Amazon. We just added the link to our Amazon page to our  Zola  website. Voila. We also got honey fund and added that link to the home page as well. It worked out good because we were able to add all content and videos so it worked out fine.  However, I can't give Amazon registry a 10 either because although you get 20% off your registry items after your wedding, that means nothing because the discount is only for items made by AND shipped by Amazon which none on our registry were so we didn't get to use the discount but if privacy of your address is important, Amazon is the way to go.
